March 1 CASANOVA'S BIG NIGHT released.
Late March JF travels to Peru to visit Martita's parents, then makes a stop in Santiago, Chile.
June 1 JF replaces Deborah Kerr in the play TEA AND SYMPATHY at the Ethel Barrymore Theater.
1955
Rumors persist that JF will star with Van Johnson in a movie musical based on DIE FLADERMAUS. The Warner Bros.' film was never put into production.
February 8 JF withdraws from the play TEA AND SYMPATHY due to a bout with bursitis.
September 13 OTHELLO released.
1956
March JF returns to RKO for a three-picture deal, SERENADE released (March 13).
September 11 BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT released.
1957
January JF and Mrs. Fontaine fly to France to meet Olivia's new husband and baby daughter.

While in France JF visits the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
March Dozier charges JF with being in contempt of court for disobeying custody orders handed down in March 1953.
May JF agrees to compromise custody arrangement with Dozier.
June 13 ISLAND IN THE SUN released.
mid-June JF sails with her daughters on the Queen Mary to Cherbourg, France.
July 1 Newsweek reports uproar in Minnesota, South Carolina, and Georgia over showing the controversial film ISLAND IN THE SUN.
August JF breaks her little toe and is stricken with a severe case of Asian flu in London.
September 24 UNTIL THEY SAIL released.
Fall JF travels to Kilcock, Ireland with Peter Viertel, where they train for the upcoming hunting season.
December JF travels to Switzerland with Viertel for a skiing holiday. She is stricken with infectious monoucleosis.
1958
Early JF enters the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles with hepatitis and mononucleosis. Upon her release she flies to her home in Maine to recuperate.
June 25 SEPARATE TABLES opens at the Rockland County Playhouse in Blauvelt, New York.
August 1 A CERTAIN SMILE released.
August 9 SEPERATE TABLES closes at the Theatre-by-the-Sea in Matunuch, Rhode Island.
Summer Dozier takes JF to court for violating a 1957 custody agreement. Under threat of jail JF returns Debbie to Dozier.
1959
June 29 HILARY opens in summer stock at the Summer Theatre in Sacandaga Park, New York.
September 5 HILARY closes at the Oakdale Musical Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut.
October 14 HILARY opens at The Playhouse in Wilmington, Delaware.
December 19 HILARY closes at the Geary in San Fransisco.
1960
April 24 JF speaks to the Pittsburgh Advertising Club on Ladies' Day.
May 16 Young announces that he and JF will separate.
mid-May JF enters a balloon race in Holland. She ends up on the winning team.
June 13 SUSAN AND GOD opens at the Pocono Theatre in Mountainhome, Pennsylvania.
August Music Corp. of America executive Mike Levee hires JF as a hostess for one of his television series.
August 27 SUSAN AND GOD closes at the Country Playhouse in Westport, Connecticut.
November 9 JF files a divorce suit against Young.
