Standard V: Productivity and Professional Practice

Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice

What Teachers Should be Able to do:

  1. Use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
  2. Continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
  3. Apply technology to increase productivity.
  4. Use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.

How this Standard Relates to TRED 701:

This is the "outside of the classroom" standard, relating to a teacher’s involvement in a greater educational community. In TRED 701, the emphasis was on communication and new ways of sharing information. Several of the projects demonstrated alternative methods and new avenues of communication which could be used with students, parents, and peers.
