Unlike what most people think, translation work requires different approaches depending on the purpose of translation.
 Technical Translation:
Translation of documents such as academic papers, presentations, reports, technical manuals, legal documents, business and accounting reports, prospectus, etc. require meticulous translation aimed at relaying 100% of the content using accurate terminology.
Media Translation:
Media translation is translation for media such as audio, video, film, broadcast, websites or print media. The outcome is limited by available time or space of the media. Media translation should preserve the impact of the original text within the realistic constraints and characteristics of different media.
Copywrite-Translation:
Translation of speeches, PR material, company brochures, advertisements and websites should be loyal to the purpose of the text - communicating information and a strong message. Many such translations will fall flat if one takes a purely technical approach. For copywrited texts, successful translation is closer to copywriting itself, where the translator must have the liberty to account for cultural, social and linguistic differences.
Large-scale Translation Projects :
Large-scale translation projects require a project manager and several translators. Almost all translation works are heavily pressured by a time frame. This means several translators must work simultaneously. The project manager is responsible for centrally coordinating, distributing, directing and editing the work, otherwise the final product is no more than a patchwork of different translation with inconsistent terminology.
Editing, Proofreading :
There are two types of proofreading. One is the basic type where grammatical errors or sentence integrity is checked. The other is where the translation is checked against the original text and edited.

Contracting Translation Work |

First, the text to be translated is sent to the translator or agency to request a quote. The resume of the potential translator may be requested as well. Large translation projects require the resume of the coordinator. Refer to FAQ for guidelines to select the right translator.
