Meditation was a significant part of the ancient healing system from which this
form of Reiki originates.
Our minds are in constant activity reacting to external stimuli as well as
stored memories.
As a result, vital mental energy is wasted leading to a state of mental
"dis-ease".
Therefore meditation is recommended for the purpose of concentrating mental
energy to bring about healing.
Through the concentration and purification of the mind by meditation, the mind
becomes deeply tranquil and free of mental anguish and suffering.
When the mind is in a pure state undisturbed by negative thoughts, such as
anger and greed, the meditator is able to see the true nature of the mind and
thereby the true nature of all things.
Thereby the physical aspect of healing is an indirect effect - a consequence of
the purified mind.
During the training in Reiki Jin Kei Do, the student is introduced to simple
meditation routines, and is encouraged to set aside some quiet time each day to
sit - to be aware of thoughts - both negative and positive - and to be aware of
the experience of energy. This time can be combined with the opportunity to
self-treat with Reiki - an essential part of this discipline. Through daily
practice, this becomes part of the student's healing journey with Reiki.
