The author, who trained in Reiki some years ago, describes herself as an “energy healer”, and has worked with leading cardiac surgeons and cancer specialists in their operating theatres. They have allowed her to do healing work during the course of major surgical procedures thereby helping patients to sometimes survive risky surgical operations. She notes how strong emotion can affect our bodies, creating inbalances that can lead to illness if unaddressed, and illustrates how we can heal. She shares some of her remarkable case studies. A most interesting read. Available from most good bookshops.

MOLECULES OF EMOTION by Candace Pert, Ph.D.

Explores the scientific connection between mind and body, and the author discusses “how the unconscious mind of the body seems all knowing, and all powerful, and in some therapies can be harnessed for healing or change without the conscious mind figuring out what happened”. In a very personal account of her journey of discovery during her research, she gives an enthralling account of how scientists in the course of such research, have to let go of long-held scientific theories and be prepared to adopt new and radical viewpoints. ENERGY MEDICINE - THE SCIENTIFIC BASIS by James L. Oschman.
Deane Juhan, CTP, recommends Oschman's book as "the answer to the complementary therapist's dreams in that Oschman synthesises a compelling case for scores of therapeutic approaches that have for too long been dismissed as unscientific claptrap". There is a lot of interesting information in this book on energy healing including measurements of the frequencies of energy emanating from a healer's hands.
