Learner

This webquest was designed for a regular
8th grade class in New York State. Students are expected to come
into this webquest with a good knowledge of algebra. For
instance, students should be able to solve two-step equations,
multistep equations, and equations with variables on both sides.
The overall goal of this lesson is not only to get students to be able
to solve geometry problems involving algebra, but also for students to
monitor their own learning. Since each student will be work
independently it allows them to work at their own pace, and it allows
the teacher to walk around and give extra help to those students that
truly need it.
For students that struggle in mathematics, a teacher could modify the
quiz the students take at the end so that the level would be lower and
there could be more/less questions depending on what would help the
student out more. Teachers could also permit the use of
calculators while doing the webquest, which would be especially useful
for some students while taking the quiz at the end.
