Harry Potter meets Jem Chapter 5

Author: Arezoo
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Arezoo does not own Harry Potter. Or Ron, or Malfoy (as much as she would like that...) Or even Jem. She does own Rachel though, so Rachel belongs to her. But the rest is a work of fiction... pay no attention to it, especially the strange fixation with a lunchbox... yes.

It was a Wednesday that Ron came home sulking. He had been fired in his first few weeks of his job. “Fired? What? Oh Ron…how?” Hermione asked, disappointment masking her face.

“Well, they asked me to clean the toilets, and that’s not my job, it’s Denny’s, so I said no, but then they threatened to fire me, so I decided it would be best to clean them. But, their really in a bad state, those toilets, and more than half of them don’t have locks on the doors…I was cleaning the floor, and I got to this cubicle with the door closed and…” Ron blushed, but carried on, “…I thought there was no one in there, but there was. The door wasn’t locked,” He buried his face in his hands, “the girl screamed and made a fuss of things…she’s threatening to sue. They said it was inappropriate for me to work there.”

There was a shocked silence, but suddenly Draco burst out laughing, “I can’t believe that!! Weasley a peeping Tom!! A peeping Weasley!” Ginny threw a pillow at him, and Ron ran from the room, his eyes wet, glistening from tears.

And so, with Ron at home, Harry became very bitter. Now he couldn’t do all the secret things he did when no one was around…but also with less money being made, the chance of returning home soon was slowly dwindling.

It was a few weeks after Ron was made redundant that Draco came home and said that there was no job for him anymore. Apparently, the contract he signed was not permanent, and failing to read the fine print, he found out today was his last day.

“And also,” Draco continued, “the company was going under, even with my sweet ass to keep it afloat.”

“I can’t believe you just said that, I’ve lost my appetite.” Jemaine exclaimed, tossing his fork on his plate.

After dinner, Hermione got a piece of paper and a pen, and started to calculate how much money they could now earn for their five tickets, with Draco not working anymore…he had brought in the most wages with his job. “At this rate,” she said, chewing on her pen thoughtfully, “we can afford only three tickets by…July!! That’s four months away!” she suddenly burst into tears.

“Oh come on Hermione, it won’t be that bad.” Jess said, comforting her with a hand on her shoulder, “no…you don’t understand, were going to miss our EXAMS!” she wailed.

Arezoo tried very hard to stop laughing, but choked on it anyway, and pretended to cough. Hermione glared at her. Just then Harry suddenly leaped up and yelled “I’VE GOT IT!”

“Ok, no need to yell Potter, we can all hear you.” Draco said.

“Shut up Malfoy. Seriously, I have it, all we need to do is…” But instead of finishing his sentence, Harry ran out of the room.

“Oh great, Potter’s gone mad, soon he’ll be…” Draco started, but he didn’t have time to finish his sentence, because Harry stumbled into the room carrying his wand. He was flushed and suddenly stuck his arm out, as if to hail a taxi.

Nothing happened, and Jemaine started to believe that Harry was losing his mind.
