Jemaine Clement. He's the sizzle to your sausage. The cole to your slaw. The person someone's really talking about when they say 'Now that's hot...'. If you don't know what I'm on about, you'd better get a-reading...
Jemaine is also part of the comedy duo/folk band Flight of the Conchords, New Zealand's foremost bongo-funk-rap digi-jungle-polka retro-future-folk comedy duo/band (or so says the Gilded Balloon), along with Bret Mckenzie, or Figwit as he is well known by many fans of The Lord of the Rings. Jemaine and Bret have been signed on by US television network NBC to develop a TV show, and it is expected that Flight of the Conchords will record an album in Germany sometime soon. Taika Cohen and Jemaine Clement make up the skits duo The Humourbeasts, with shows such as "The Untold Tales of Maui"
The short film that Jemaine wrote, Dave Likes Art, was nominated for 4 AXIS awards, and won silver. Everyone is starting to realise the enormous talent that is - Jemaine Clement.
In the 1999 Radio Awards, Jemaine won Category 9 - Best Radio Commercial for Trashed - Jemaine Clement, Channel Z, Wellington (whole award list here).
In the NESCAF Short Film of the Year 2001, a short film "The Pen", directed by Jemaine and Guy Capper, and produced with Tim Capper, was in the open category finalists (they won AUD$1,500).
Jemaine also co-wrote the screenplay for the worldwide hit film Tongan Ninja, and also acted in it as well. Sadly, New Zealand cinemas don't seem to like the film, so everyone in the world apart from the people who would really really like to see it have... strange that.
According to this website, Jemaine's nickname is 'J Doggy Dog', but we think Jemaine might prefer other nicknames such as 'Jem', 'Geramium', 'Jem Geranium' etc.
The chemical element 'Germanium' sounds a lot like Jemaine, so we have named Germanium the official Jemaine Clement Element. So all Jemaine lovers out there, get out your science textbooks and learn to love Germanium as you would Jem.
About this site
This site was first put online on the 4th of February, 2003. Why I chose to make it, well I really don't know. Some of it was probably leftover excitement from seeing Flight of the Conchords - the C sides at Batz, and probably some of it was the insane ramblings from my freind containing Jemaine dressed in a flowered skirt (maybe it was shirt...). Anyway, I aim to bring the beauty and mystique that is Jemaine Clement to the world - or at least a few of the people in it.
