My 1973 Mercury Capri 2600 V6 4-Speed  GAECMT
on Mullholland Hwy.  June 2004
near Mullholland Hwy.  1987 near Malibu.   Fall 2003
LEFT  [ circa 1987 ]:
Here is a picture of my ( 2nd, surviving ) 1973 2600 V6 4-Speed Non-A/C GAECMT Capri,
circa 1987 or so, after I owned it 6 years since 1981.
Its previous owner painted it BLACK from original GREEN near West Los Angeles, CA.

( My first Capri, 1973 2600 V6 4-Speed Non-A/C GAECML Brown Capri was bought from a college-bound friend in 1980 and wrecked in 1981. )

( My dad and I bought and sold (oops) a really nice 1973 2600 V6 4-Speed A/C Green GAECMT Capri from a woman who worked at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles around 1983 or so.  I have a feeling that my 2nd and this 3rd Capri were probably sold by the same Beverly Hills Lincoln Mercury Dealer!

By coincidence, my dad's Real Estate partner sold the same lady's house for her in 2003
.... 20 years later !!!  )

CENTER  [ circa 2003 ]:

Here is a picture of my 1973 Mercury Capri 2600 V6 with about 120,000 miles ... on its way to the restoration shop, still coated in a thick layer of Turtle Wax to protect against cruel California sun during years and years of neglectful storage!    I have owned it since 1981 and drove it continuously from 1981 to 1991.  It has been in storage off and on since about 1988.  ( I have a gas receipt from 1988 with 118,000 scribbled on it ).

Picture Circa 2003 just before restoration repair #1 that lightened the bank account by $1,100.

Repairs to date:
1990-2005 storage $8,000   2002 Carb rebuild, self install $220.   2002 Seats $600.   2003 radiator rebuild, self-install $200.   2003 water pump, hoses, fluids, brake lines, tune up, gas tank $1100.   2004-02 battery & cables & clamp, alternator wiring, fuel lines, minor tune $550.  2004-02 windshield on order from Colorado $200.  2004-03 rear window and trunk silicone seal stopgap $10.  2004-04 valve adjustments  2004-04 new radiator cap and 3 tire repairs.  2004-04 I find my 1976 Bar Mitzvah Timex Watch in the Capri center console!  2004-04 stereo wiring repair and interior/carpet clean-up begins.  2004-06 new Sumitomo 205-60s on my vintage
Riken mesh 13x6 rims along with its 2nd oil change since it began resurrection  $42/tire+sh+m+b.
2004-07 Pep Boys radiator overflow bottle and overheating tinkering  $10.  2004-07 three E-Bay keys cut $10 and about 6 tanks of gas since resurrection, now at 120,300 miles.  2004-10 Rocky Mtn NOS windshield and gasket installed with help of fellow www.SoCalCapriClub.com member.  Thanks Tom and S.!

I began restoring it in 2002 and plan to be finished sometime in 2005...06..07....

It has a solid TRANNY'83, REBUILT ENGINE WITH TRW PARTS & NORRIS CAM '85 and new RADIATOR'03, CARBURETOR'02, WATER PUMP'03, HOSES'03, BRAKE LINES'03, GAS TANK'03, FUEL PUMP'03, REUPHOLSTERED FRONT SEATS in 99% correct MB-TEX'02, FUEL LINES'04, BATTERY& CABLES'04, ALTERNATOR WIRING'04.

It still needs REAR SEAT UPHOLSTERY, PAINT, VALVETRAIN NOISE REPAIR, WINDOW RUBBER, MUFFLERS, STEREO.

I want:  to retrofit factory air, paint the hood similar to a new Mustang Mach 1, with Audi A4 or BMW M3 Blue Base Paint and a Black Hood Scoop Paint & pinstripe.
