Getting Started

Choosing your darts

If possible, try a variety of different weights of darts before you buy a set, so that you end up with some which are comfortable for you to throw. [MORE]

How to stand at the oche

I could go on and on about technique and so forth, however, the best way to get started is to get up to the oche and throw a few darts. This should give you a feeling for the distance and action required to hit the board.

Next, try a few variations of position of the front foot - this should be the same foot as the hand you use to throw the darts. You should aim to have most of your weight on your front foot, and be leaning forward slightly (without overbalancing!!!!).

All I can really say about stance is to find one that works for you - we've had a guy (ok, ok - "Legend") called Shabir at darts these last couple of years who stands face on at the oche, and actually does pretty well!!!
