Software to own!

Program name It's use!
Ad-aware
(Free)
Detects spyware
  - I never heard of it, till a friend of mine noticed a "fishy" folder called
amcdl under C:\Windows. After the scan, I realized there were 24 more spyware components on my computer. Although I don't think they really send out confidential data but still nothing should be on your computer without your knowledge.
GetRight
(Shareware)
Saves partially downloaded stuff
 - Quite useful if you have a slow internet connection. It installs some spyware as well, so get Ad-aware to get rid of that.
EditPlus
(Shareware)
Editor
 - Has some good features like line numbers, colour coding for Java, C/C++, HTML etc.
Winamp

 - A must have!
Norton Internet Security Costs some buck$
 - A must must have if using high-speed internet. Blocks Trojan attacks etc.

X Win32

MicroImages X-Server

CygWin

Xwindows allows telnet sessions to open windows directly on your machine. In this way, your Windows machine acts as a Unix machine. The fonts installer is a collection of various fonts to be used with Xwindows. This allows X programs to display correctly.
