The Dominators are primarily a race of scientists who have long had an interest in humanity and its ability to produce an exceptionally large number of post-humans. Their abduction and experiment-ation on thousands of Earthlings in the 20th century led to the heroic legend of Valor when Lar Gand freed the captives and helped them "seed" various planets that would one day become the members of the United Planets. Dominator experimentation led to the emergence of XS' speed powers and the Dominators also had a significant presence in the Dark Circle and the Affiliated Planets.

The Khunds are a race of warriors who have long been interested in the conquest of Earth. Their campaigns for domination began in the 20th century with the invasion of Earth by many alien races, including the Dominators. Although they tend towards the use of force, they have increas-ingly become adept at subterfuge and played a large role in the Dark Circle and the Affiliated Planets. They have maintained a presence in the AP even after the Dark Circle was abolished and have been assisting the outer rim worlds in their efforts to resist the Roboticon invasion, particularly on Xanthu.
