This is a good site that provides information and links to information about
how the web works. There are a few links to tutorials for beginning users.
Most of the information, however, is geared for the more advanced HTML
author that wants to know exactly how the internet works.

This tutorial is provided by the web hosting company, 2K Communications.
The tutorial is a good beginners guide. It goes over many of things that
a beginning web author is trying to accomplish. Beyond that, there is not a
great deal of other information.

This is basic tutorial that gives a good introduction on how to build web pages.
One very nice feature is the option to download the tutorial as a zip file or as
an acrobat PDF.

There is some very good information on this site. Also, there is a cool interactive
tutorial that gives the opportunity to try out things right in the tutorial. The
only caveat to the site is all the advertisements. Overall this is a good site,
just be ready to close some extra pop-up windows.

WebSpawner provides an excellent reference to HTML tags and design information.
Also, there is a cool online web page builder. It's free and gives the
opportunity to test out how things will work, right on the internet.
Web Style Guide
This site or one like it is a must for anyone building a web site. The
information is geared towards the design of a web page instead of just
how to use the code. There is some good information in here on how to
create a functional design that is pleasing to the end user.

Try this site after having been through some of the beginner's tutorials.
There is some beginning information in here, but it gets advanced fairly
quickly. The goal of this site is to share technical information for the
people that build web sites every day. This is a definitely a must see,
but not the first site to be seen.

Not just a cool name, but an excellent guide that gives a good introduction
to HTML. But not just an introduction, the topics covered include some more
advanced methods of web design. But it doesn't stop there, there are also links
to other resources and design tools. All of this is put into an easy to navigate
site that makes finding information simple. Now if they would just get rid of
those annoying pop-up banner ads.

W3Schools.com is an excellent site designed to provide free instruction
on how to build web pages. Most every topic is covered, including
HTML, XML, Style Sheets, scripts, and more. The information is
arranged in a way that makes everything very easy to locate. This
arrangment makes the site invaluable to anyone creating web pages.
If ever the final word is needed about HTML, this is the place to look.
