After thinking about it for several years, I finally found a motorcycle. I just happened across this one in the local paper and decided to take a look. After seeing the bike, I decided on the spot that I was going to purchase this bike.
This is a 1986 Honda Nighthawk (CB450 SC). Everything about this bike leaves the impression that it has been well cared for throughout it's life. This bike is in great condition and has only 14,000 miles listed on the odometer. The paint and the decals are all original. I can find nothing to indicate that it has ever been laid over. The only rust is where a parking sticker had once been applied and it had removed some of the paint when it was removed. The seat looks new because it was recovered within this last year.
Overall I am extremely happy with this bike and am excited about learning to ride. To help jump start my riding skills, I have signed up for a rider training course. The course will have the added advantage of substituting the skills tests that are otherwise required to get the required class M endorsement on my drivers license. That way, when I hit the road, I will be completely legal and much more confident in my riding abilities.
Of course I scoured the Internet for useful links relating to my motorcycle. Here are a few of the better links that I found regarding the Honda Nighthawk, as well as motorcycles in general.
This is the outfit that is providing my rider training. From what I can tell, there courses
fill up pretty quickly, so you have to schedule well in advance. One more cool thing, they
provide the bike and the helmet.
Ebay has a bunch of stuff regarding motorcycles and accessories. One stop shopping
if you know what to look for.
Bluepoof.com
is the personal page of Carolyn. I put this up because she owns the same bike that I do.
