Incentives
Government policies in the mid 1980's
stimulated the development and growth of the informatic sector through a number of
incentive schemes designed to create a climate conducive to investment. The incentives
are:
- Export Free Zone Act. This allows
for 100% income and profit tax exemption, duty free import for capital and consumer goods,
goods for construction and alterations and repairs, repatriation of earnings, and
minimized customs procedures.
- The Export Industry Encouragement Act
(EIEA). This provides duty free importation of raw materials and capital goods, and a
tax holiday on profits for 10 years.
- The establishment of Single Entity Free
Zone Status. Stand alone Free Zones.
- Moratorium on Duties. This enables
investors not having free zone status to pay their import duties over an average two year
period
