Pattern of fever can be important in diagnosis and response of fever to medication. It can be

  1. Continuous

  2. Intermittent

  3. Every day

  4. Alternate day

  5. High grade

  6. Low grade

  7. With or without chills and rigors -shivering

  8. With or without perspiration

  9. Biphasic-fever then no fever for few days then again fever.

Pattern of fever can be known by careful history taking and maintaining temperature record charts.
