Special precautions needed in case a pregnant female develops fever. This is because:

  1. Majority of drugs are un safe during pregnancy especially during first 3 months.

  2. Fever, Underlying disease and medicines used , all can pose a certain degree of risk to the fetus in form of abortions, still births, premature delivery, birth defects, low birth weight.

  3. Both under and over treatment are un desirable during pregnancy.

  4. No medication, no matter how harmless you consider that to be, be taken without consulting the specialist doctor.

  5. Proper nutrition and hydration be maintained during fever at all costs.

  6. Adequate rest is a must during fever.
