How NOT to Look Like a n00b!

Part I: Clothes Make the Man

n00b
(noob) or (noo'be)
n. A player who has just started gaming and who hasn't yet acquired sufficient skill, and/or etiquette, like that of an average competitive opponent. The term is often used as an insult or a taunt.

Also used: n00bie, n00by, newb, newbie.
A definition is never enough. A n00b who won't learn the etiquette or rules of a server can give even the most patient of people a splitting headache. Each week I will be writing an article that can help you to get over the rough speed bump of n00bieness and on to a more pleasant gaming experience for you and for those around you. This week, learn about the evolution of skins.

"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."

First and foremost, since you're trying not to look like a n00b, let's focus on your skin. So which skin should you go with? Well, I'm not going to suggest you use a certain skin, nor am I going to tell you which ones to stay away from. Here's what I've noticed, though.

Most people who are new to JKII want to look cool when they join a server. So naturally they choose what they think are the "coolest" skins. The most commonly-seen n00b skins are Reborn and Luke Skywalker. After that, I'd say the average player wears the Kyle skin. Not because they've chosen Kyle, but because they've suddenly discovered custom skins. Now, keep in mind, those skins you download look great to you, but to everyone else, if they don't have the skin, you're just plain old boring Kyle. Then, it seems the natural progression for those who realize that custom skins only beget Kyle, is the (console-generated) colored Reborn. From the customized colored Reborn skin, those who are looking for more mystery turn to the faceless skins. Everywhere you'll see Stormtroopers, Shadowtroopers, Swamptroopers, and TIE Fighter Pilots. Once a person advances, I've noticed they want to stand out a bit more. They shed their mysterious masked man skin and pick something a bit more conspicuous. You'll see a lot of pros slicing and dicing in skins like Reelo, Ugnaught, and Mon Mothma.

Keep in mind: none of this is the rule, or written law. This is simply what I've noted while running around in a very unassuming Jan skin. :)
