Depression

Van Gogh - Depression

Depression is different for everyone and it can be triggered by all sorts of things that have not been dealt with in past or in the present moment. How we deal with it depends on the severity. We all live very full on, busy lives and things happen and we do not have time to deal with these or are not aware of the impact until it is too late. We may find ourselves struggling to be motivated and don't want to get up in the mornings. Or we may isolate ourselves and our self worth and self esteem diminishes.

How long did it take to get there? What was our trigger?

Not knowing where to start and having blind spots to ourselves of how we got here, and what is happening to us, cause us to feel so helpless. We wonder who we can trust and what will work for us. We seem to fall down the same hole over and over again and then look up and it takes every effort to get just a little way up and then we slip backwards. The climb does not always go smoothly, however you can move on from depression and use it has a yard stick of where you were once. Eventually you will be able to see where you want to go and how you will get there. What will this new space look like and how can you take small steps to move on? Even if we do go backwards we never return to the same place. Freeing our inner selves and having more self awareness means we start to have a sense of what we want. We may find ourselves wanting to share our journey and wonder if our experience can help others. We may find ourselves talking of our experience more in terms of a break through rather than a breakdown.

There are steps we can take and if we keep with psychotherapy then the possibilities there after are endless.

The journey is best travelled together
