FEEDBACK

"We all of the 20thFG want to thank you for your wonderful tribute to our hero and the man we tried to emulate and learn to think like. Jack was one of the greatest natural leaders,no harsh words, no ordering around, he just said that he was going to do something and we fell over each other to follow him. Before he came we were fortunate to have Maj R.C.Franklin, who had been Jack's instructor. They were a pair of originals.
"As wild teenagers turned loose in a strange country it is special to be remembered with any kind of friendship. Again, your thoughtful tribute is so greatly appreciated."
- Capt.Arthur W. "Ace" Heiden 79th.FS, 20th.FG

"I keep the memory of what all americans(male and female) have done to give them this freedom they enjoy and I make them (his young relations)read and understand things I feel are no longer taught in school. God,country, honor and family! It was a thrill when I saw the web page because it is long overdue!"
-Dr. R.R. Bradshaw, brother of Capt. James Bradshaw, 79thFS, 20thFG

"I am delighted to hear that you are doing a Web Page on this very, very special gentleman."
-Yvonne Barnett (UK)

"Love this site. Will be back and back....."
-Eileen (Texas)

"A very good story of a good man."
-Merle (Ohio)

"Great web page! My Dad, Max D. Pyles, told me about the site. He was in the 20th.FG and his plane is on the 32 cent stamp. I'm very proud of my Dad and his dedication to this country during a time of need. This web site is a must for the next generation to see so that they can understand why their country is still free.He ended up with a bronze star, but he never really talked about them, it was something his country asked him to do. We need more good men like Jack and my Dad."
- Gary Lee Pyles (Son of T.Sgt. Max Pyles, Crew Chief, "Lucky Lady")

"Beautiful webpage......honoring a remarkable man. We look forward to seeing the page develop!"
- Dawn and Steve Cox, Wichita, Kansas

"Thanks for shedding light on the proud accomplishments of an under-publicized 8th AF Group."
- Mark Van Sickle (Nephew of Capts. Dick and Frank Van Sickle, 77th.FS, 20th.FG)

"Just looked through your website.....what a great job you're doing of reminding people of some history that is often overlooked! Thanks again for your fine work!"
 - Bonnie Lechman (Daughter of Maj. George Wemyss, 20th.FG HQ)

"Thanks for helping make the Web a more interesting, fun and attractive place to visit. I really enjoyed my visit to your site and will return again when time permits :)"

"What a pleasant surprise to have all your pages on Jack Ilfrey pop up when entering his name into a search engine. Apart from sharing your opinion on Jack's character, I am also glad that there where men like him. Otherwise, I would probably be living in a much different (and scarier) Germany now.
Again, I would like to compliment you on your well done and well presented website. These men really where the last of a breed, that is not likely to ever return in times of video-game style warfare. And we owe them more than we can truely comprehend."
-Thies Eisele (Germany)

"I have to admit I just discovered your web site and I was very impressed.
"I am French and a few years ago we had the luck to witness the Fighter Collection's P-38 flying at airshows under Jack Ilfrey's colours... It was very sad when first they repainted the aircraft, and then a few years laters it crashed during a display in Duxford...
"I will undoubtedly recommend the site to my friends!"
-Frederic Janik, Finland

"...I intended to write to you sooner to express my gratitude for your fine efforts but it's too easy to procrastinate.I want to commend you on your efforts. We can all be proud of your superior product and of being part of a worthy cause those many years ago. The information you have included is quite extensive so I would like to explore the contents more before making any recommendations. We are planning to go to Savannah and look forward to seeing you there..."
-Dan Oxley (55th.FS/20th.FG)

"... I really enjoyed your websites. They are great! You are certainly talented. Sorry, but I won't be attending the 20th FG reunion, but look forward to your online coverage of it. Thanks for all your efforts!"
-Harry Bisher, (55th.FS/20th.FG)

"I was on the phone with Jack this evening and he mentioned your website! Since he does not have a computer, he went to his office, gave me your url and I pulled up your site. .....and tried my best to explain all of your pages to him! The best part was turning up the volume on my speakers and putting the phone up so Jack could hear the plane sound effects! Jack let out a short laugh and exclaimed, 'Yep, that's the P-38 alright!' Congrats on a great web page and for an excellent tribute to a true American hero and a GREAT man! We ALL owe our Freedom today to men like Jack Ilfrey!"
- Chris Ruffing, owner Aces and Autographs ,Houston, TX

"Thanks for such an informative web-site. My dad was stationed at King's Cliffe 1943-45. He was Capt. John R Curfman, of the 55th Sq. I believe he was Engineering Officer. I recently found the letters he wrote home during this time and this site really brings to life the people & events he wrote about."
- Dorothee Curfman Johnson (daughter of John Curfman),Texas

"An excellent tribute to one of many outstanding airmen of WWII."
- Ben Neiman Class 55-02 Ellington AFB,Kingwood, Tx

"WOW!!! Thanks to Bob Bradshaw for directing me to this site. I was in the 20th at Wethersfield, England in the late 60s. Keep up the great work."
- Herb Harper, Historian 98th Bomb Group Veterans Assoc., Georgetown, TN

"I came across this site a couple of months ago and am impressed with how it is continuing to evolve. Great work by Syd and his people. As a P-38 nut, I had heard about Col. Ilfrey before, but this site makes him even more alive in my mind's eye. I have spoken with Col. Ilfrey and found him very friendly and helpful. Believe me, my children will know about Jack Ilfrey and others like him. Athletes and actors as heroes? Sorry, no. What does Denis Rodman risk when he plays basketball? What does Bruce Willis do for all of us when he makes a movie and gets paid $20 million? Men like Ilfrey and more recent warriors as heroes? Happily, yes. My kids will have that perspective, be sure of it."
- Michael T. Terry Reading, Massachusetts

"Wow! That was wonderful. It brought tears to my eyes. I am Ed and Kay's first grandchild and mother of their only great grandchild (Caitlin). I hope my grandfather sees this - he is not really internet savvy. Thank you so much for doing this for him! We love him very much and we think he is fantastic, too!"
- Laurie Steiner O'Neal (Granddaughter of Maj.Ed Steiner)

"Thank you for helping us to understand the sacrifices these people made on behalf of us all. Your website is preserving a history that would otherwise be lost."
--Kent Higgins

"Dear Mr. Edwards, My family and I wish to thank you so much for the wonderful work you have done to put the 20th fighter group on the internet for all the world, and especiallythe families, to enjoy and reminisce. We were so touched. I also want to thank you for your response to our granddaughter, Laurie O'Neal. We are also a little curious about you. Please tell us a little something. We want toknow more about someone whose work we admire."
--With appreciation, Kay Steiner, wife of Edward Steiner
