Top 25 Of 2004
#5-#2
Songs 5 through 2 have all spent a few weeks in the top spot, and they've all spent many weeks in the Top 3 as well.  These songs all had amazing streaks on the chart, and they all deserve to be #1.  These songs are of serious quality and should not be overlooked by anyone.
#5: Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)-Chevelle

Chevelle returns to the chart, this time in the Top 5.  Vitamin R was the lead single from Chevelle's latest disc, "This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In)."  This song is extremely infectious.  Chevelle's sound is just amazing, and this song is a great example of that.  Debuting the week of September 1st, Vitamin R is still on the chart.  It has currently spent 14 weeks on the chart. It also holds a year-high string of six consecutive weeks at #1.  This is just an all-around great song and deserves much recognition, as does the band that performs it.
#4: Live Like You Were Dying-Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw had a HUGE hit with this song this year.  Live Like You Were Dying hit close to the hearts of masses of country and mainstream fans all around the world.  It was no surprise to see this one shoot to the top of the country charts quite quickly.  And it did the same on this chart.  Debuting the week of June 9, it took Tim just two weeks to hit #2, and two more to take over the top spot.  After a five week stint at #1, chilling in the top 3 for a few weeks, and another week at #1, Live Like You Were Dying ended up charting for 16 weeks and bringing in a solid #4 in the Top 25 of 2004.
#3: Vindicated-Dashboard Confessional

What would one of the year's biggest movies be without one of the year's biggest songs?  Clearly Dashboard Confessional didn't want to find out.  Vindicated got some heavy radio airplay, and it got lots of time on the chart.  Debuting the week of June 2, Vindicated spent 19 weeks on the chart.  It also duked it out for the top spot with Live Like You Were Dying for eight straight weeks, coming out on top in two of those weeks.  This is just an all-around great song, certainly worthy of a Top 5 spot in this year's Top 25.
#2: The Reason-Hoobastank

This was Hoobastank's breakout year.  After a solid but underrated and underplayed debut, Hoobastank returned in late 2003 with this CD, The Reason.  And the title track became one of this year's biggest hits, if not the biggest.  After debuting the week of March 10, this one stayed on the chart for a total of 23 weeks.  It also had two stints of 3 weeks each in the #1 spot.  This song hung around in the Top 2 for 13 straight weeks, a clear indicator of the amazing streak this song had.  It was truly one of this year's best, and arguably the best.  However, on this chart, there was one song just slightly better.
