The Solution

There are several technical advances that have emerged over the last couple of years which make it very easy for anyone to mix music and produce excellent quality pieces for performance:

Digital music can be loaded to a PC from a CD or from the internet
Inexpensive sound editing software is available for the PC
CD Burners and low-cost recordable blank CD-R discs make the cost of production low

If you have a good ear and follow a “sound” process, you can create recordings precisely tailored to your groups’ needs. In a matter of minutes, you can:

Record multiple songs and blend them together to create a suite
Remove the middle of a song to create a shorter song with a strong start and finish
Slow down or speed up a song
Create a custom fade-out and reprise for the stage exit
Add your own vocals, voice-over or sound effects to a song
Edit out any undesirable sounds or lyrics in an otherwise great song
Produce CDs for your studio, and for competitions (where supported)

In the following pages, I will describe a process which anyone with a computer and CD burner can follow to create “perfect” songs.
