ICQ is a very useful application that encompasses several net features such as real-time keyboard chat, messaging, file transfer, paging, E-mail management and a basic web page facility. It also coordinates with other applications such as Net Meeting, BuddyPhone, Conference and others.

ICQ is extremely user-friendly, and all its functions are fairly self-explanatory. You can easily find friends who are on the internet and who are also running ICQ, simply by typing in their email address, name, or ICQ reference into the ICQ search engine - the programme will locate them in seconds!

From there you can monitor whether your friends/family/acquaintances have logged on to the internet by keeping ICQ running, either on one side of your screen or minimised, and (text) chat to them when they arrive on-line.

The message facility comprises a small text window (post-it note size) that you type your message in, then press send - it's that easy!! File transfers work in a similar fashion - send off your scanned image, or any file on your computer that you wish to share with your friends.
