REHABILITATION OF CAPTIVE ANIMALS
Our goal is to return animals to the wild. To this end, most animals are in rehabilitation, and we handle them as little as possible, so they will not get too accustomed to people.

In addition to monkeys and birds, we currently have two Andean Bears, a female cub, Colleen, and a 4 year old male, Pepito, and a wildcat in rehabilitation.

The animals must learn to recognize and eat the foods they will find in the wild. The wildcat is a predator, and must learn to hunt. If they do not naturally understand, we must lead them to the required behavior. Rehabilitation is supervised by our Biologist and on site staff.
MEET OUR SPECTACLED BEARS IN REHABILITATION
PEPITO
The bears must learn to eat all the foods they will encounter in the wild. We go to the forest to find these foods and introduce them to the bears. If they do not understand how to eat the foods, we will teach them, step by step.
COLLEEN
About 75% of all animals we receive are liberated. Most of the others are placed in semi-liberation in their natural habitat. A few can not be liberated and remain at a Rescue Center.
