Then again...I might just be the crazy one....I've never claimed (on record) to know everything. There are a lot of things I have yet to figure out about life (like whether I'd rather moon-walk down the aisle at my wedding or do the electric slide). Actually, my concerns aren't even that specific. I think it more or less boils down to one thing: "why we do the things we do." |

When it come to the human race, I'm still clueless... No, it's not because we've found a way to walk on the moon, nor is it because we've figured out how to make a bomb powerful enough to blow up the entire planet. I think it's more along the lines of "why I was passed while driving the other day by a guy reading a newspaper on his steering wheel" or "why we were even TRYING to produce a bomb powerful enough to blow up the entire planet." Why are college graduates making fries at Mcdonalds? Why do I see pets wearing sweaters and kids in the street with no clothes at all? Why are people spending time and energy lobbying to get "In God we trust" off of coins instead raising money for poverty stricken homes? <sigh> |

I am officially a dangerous/reckless driver. In the midst of my youth-induced invincibility, I stumbled into adult territory when I assumed I would be able to drive someplace I had never been and return home with "no unusual occurrences." Of course, diligence on the part of axioms such as "Murphy's Law" labor faithfully night and day to convince me otherwise. |

So, I was "on my way home" from Bellevue, Nebraska (a town adjacent to Omaha). The night hadn't had the most "eloquent" of beginnings so I naturally assumed trouble was finished with me and was now in pursuit of another hapless victim. |

Anyway, there I was...straining my eyes into the night for comforting familiarity. As I drove deeper and deeper into the heart of "Huskerland," panic put the death grip on me and drove me to go speed more and more--there weren't any other cars around so I figured that the faster I reached a marker or sign, the sooner I could turn right...left..."somewhere," and be on my way home. Right? |

THEN I SAW THE LIGHT---of the car behind me |

As I glanced back at the car that was slowly making its way towards me, I (of course) toyed with the likelihood that it might be a police officer slowly creeping up on me in a manner similar to that of wild carnivores and their prey. Unfortunately, I didn't spend the time to finish my game of mental "connect the dots" since I was so preoccupied in finding my own "light in the darkness." If only it had been "a light in the darkness" I had truly been looking for...perhaps then I might have been less displeased to see the red and white lights flashing atop the squad car behind me.
During many hilarious recountings and ridiculous testimonies from others, I had heard of people actually closing their eyes in efforts to extricate themselves from "this horrid dimension" and back into safe normality, never before had I been desperate enough to try it.
"This is just like TV," I mused...but then again, the money was real (all 128 dollars of it)--that was the problem. If only I'd been able to find the remote in time to zap myself into another station say--the repentance channel? |
