Hawaii

It was spring break of my third year in medical school and I was completely burnt out from my rotations through Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics and Neurology. Teddy and I knew we wanted to get away and go on vacation, but we couldn't decide on where. After hours and hours of searching on the Internet for a place to go, Teddy booked us for a weeklong hotel and air package in Hawaii and off he swept me to the beautiful shores of Oahu the very next day.

Waikiki

Waikiki is gorgeous. The waters are crystal clear and the steets are alive with tourists, hotels, ABC souvenir shops, street performers, and fast food shops.

We stayed at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani in the heart of Waikiki. The lobby was very beautiful with orchids everywhere.

We were only one block away from the beach, with what was called a "partial ocean view." The room was small but clean, and free Kona coffee grounds were provided for our cofeepot everyday. The location was the best part because we were only steps away from the beach and right next door to what would turn out to be our favorite nightly haunting place - the International Marketplace! We probably spent half of our time and half of our money at the International Marketplace. It was the cheapest place to get souvenirs, opened late past midnight, and sold grilled steak for less than $7.

Kaena Point

Teddy had a special mission to find the most deserted and untouristed spots of Oahu. With a guidebook and plenty of rental car mileage, we drove up and down both coasts of Oahu. At Kaena Point, we hiked along dirt paths, scrambled over rocks and tide pools, and enjoyed the coastline view of towering green mountains.

Sandy Beach

I love this photo. This was taken at Sandy Beach which is known for its big waves and shorebreak bodysurfing. Teddy just couldn't stay out of the water no matter how cold it was.

North Shore
