Ashfield-Leichhardt
Induction

All SES members must undergo this course. It provides you with an introduction to the NSW State Emergency Service, our roles, what we do for you and what you can do for us (including Safety and Wellbeing)!

As with all our courses, our Induction Assessment is competency based. You will be assessed by a qualified assessor and then graded as either Competent or Requires further Training.

The course on Operating Communications Systems and Equipment is part of Induction.

The course material (in PDF format) for this course can be found on the NSW SES website or below.

First Aid

All Ashfield/Leichhardt SES Members undergo this course and it is a requirement prior to being an active member of our response and duty teams. We have quallified trainers and assessors in the St John Ambulance Senior First Aid course. This course is accredited by WorkCover NSW and is recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework. This training will enable you to administer first-aid in the event of an emergency affecting your fellow SES member or a casualty. It is the same qualification that is required in NSW for a workplace First Aid Officer.
Further training in the St John Ambulance Advanced First Aid course is also available from time to time.
