You must be born again to be able to go to the Kingdom of Heaven when you die. In John 3:3 Jesus told Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus then said unto Jesus "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where is listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." ~John 3:4-8

Jesus must be your Saviour for you to be born again. Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds where evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest he deeds be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." ~John 3:16-21  
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me." ~John 14:6

You should pray and ask God to give you complete forgiveness for all your sins. Pray until you feel relief from your burdens. When you are born again you feel wonderful. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things become new." ~2 Corinthians 5:17

Once you are saved you will not have the desire to do evil things. The temptation is there, but if you pray and ask the Jesus for help you will not have the desire to follow in the path of sin. You can become sanctified and therefore have no desire for worldly or sinful things. "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren." ~James 1:13-16 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" ~1 Peter 5:8

If you stumble and go right back into sin, you must then pray through and ask forgiveness, in order to make it to the kingdom of heaven. "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, and he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. The he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation." Matthew 12:43-45

If you are not born again you will go to Hell. It is very saddening to think of all the people who have, will, and are dieing without being born again. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." ~2 Peter 3:9

Young children who die do make it to Heaven. They are innocent. When a child is old enough to completely realize the difference between good and evil they must be born again in order to make it to Heaven.
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin" ~James 4:17
