Nimrod Tacket, Jon Hanley Jr, George Swope, James Gray, William Maddy, David Graham, Tollison Shumate and Thomas Wyatt, Gent.  Lieutenants of the Companies of the militia of this counto to which their names are respectively annexed towith the said Tackett of the Company intended to be comm. by Capt. Byrnsides, the said John Hanly, Jr of the Company intended by  Capt. Jones, the saiid William Maddy of the Compnay intended to be commanded by Capt. Estill, the said David Graham of the company intended to be commanded by Henry McDaniel, Gent. and the said Thomas Wyatt of the Company intended to be commanded by Matt Farley, Gent.

Alexander Dunlap, Charles Hinson, James Young, James Byrnside, Jr., James Miller, James Gwinn, James Thompson and John Harvey, Gent. are recommended to the Governor as proper persons to execute the offices of Ensigns of the Companies of the militia of this county to which their names are respectively annexed towit, the said Alexander Dunlap of the Compan intended to be recommended by Capt. Byrnside thethe siad comander by Capt. Jones the said James Miller in the compay intended to be commanded by Capt. Estill, the said James Gwinn of the company intended to be commanded by Capt. Graham, the said James Thompson of the Company intended to be commanded by Henry McDaniel, Gent. and the said John Harvey of the company intended to be commanded by Matt Farley

Thomas Low, Robert Dunbar, John Cottell, William Dixon, George Foster, Isaac Ce, Enos Holstead, and Joshua Lewis are appointed Constables in this county and that the district of Capt. Byrnside's Company be assigned to the said Thomas Low.  That the bounds of Capt. Clark's Company be assigned to the said Dunbar at the bounds of Capt. Nickles Company be assigned to the said Cottell.  that the bounds of Capt. Grahams Company be assigned to the said William Dixon, tat the bounds of Capt. Jones Company be assigned to the said George Foster, that the bounds of Capt. McDaniels Company be assigned to the said Isaac Cole, that the bounds of Capt. Farley's Company be assigned to the said Enos Holstead and that the bonds of Capt.  Estills Company be assigned to the said Joshua Lewis and ordered that they be qualified accordingly.

Robert Patton, Sr. is recommended to the Governor as a proper person to execute the office of First Lieutenant of the Troop of Cavalry to be  raised in this County.
Joseph Alderson, Gent. is recommended to the Governor as a proper person to execute the office of Second Lieutenant of the Troop of Cavalry to be raised in this County.
Ervin Benson, Gent. is recommended to the Governor as a proper person to execute the office of Coronet of the Troop of Cavalry to be raised in this County.

Ordered that the court be adjournd till tomorrow morning 9:0'clock to be then held at the house of James Alexander, Gent.

At a Court held for Monre County at the house of James Alexander, Gent. the 23 day of May 1799.  Present:  James Alexander, John Byrnsides, James Hanley, Joh Gray, William Graham and William Vawter, Gentlemen Justices.
The  Court proceeded to ascertain the land for the publick buildings also twenty-five acres agreeable to the proposals of James Alexander, Gent. and having personally taken a view of the grund postponed a final decision thereof untl the next Court.

Isaac Estill, Gent. Sheriff of this County excepts tothe consequences which may happen for want of a jail for securing prisoners that may be in hs custody.
Ordered that the Court be adjourned till the next court in course. James Alexander

At Court held for Monroe County at the house of James Alexander, Gent. on Tuesday the 18 day of June 199.  Present:  William Hutchison, William Haynes, William Graham, John Gray, and John Byrnside, Gent. Justices.


A deed of Bargain and Sale from Babel Benson and Elender, his wife to Bruton smith was acknowledged by the said Babel Benson and Elender his wife she the said Elender being first privately examined as the law directs and is ordered to be recorded.

A deed of Bargain and Sale from William White and Rebeckah his wife to Stephen Vineyard was acknowledged by the said William White and Rebeckah his wife, she the said Rebeckah being first privately examined as the law directs and is ordered to be reocrded.

a deed of Bargain and Sale from alexander Hutchison and Eleanor his wife to Cottrel Lively was acnowledged by the said Alexander Hutchison and is ordered to be recorded.

A deed of Bargain and Sale from Lewis Costler and Catharine his wife to John Lemmons was acknowledge by he said Lewis Costler ad Catharine his wife  being first privately examined as the law direts and is ordered to be recorded.   Continued on page 5
