We have a destination for each week of the 2006 riding season.
Bruce Trussell, Ride Coordinator, passed around what he planned to e-mail
everyone (map and directions) before each ride and gave an update.
Richard mentioned winter activities and what has been suggested
so far: card party at someone’s house, movie day, game get-together
at someone’s house, dessert ride – we all meet somewhere for desserts
either at some-one’s house or a restaurant, theme day – everyone brings
a dish to go along with the theme, Winter Carnival in Bridgton (February
11), videos on motorcycle riding, and Fredericton Winter Get-together January
20-22.
Claudette Cyr gave an update on our Christmas Charity – a family
from the Women’s Abuse Center. Claudette invited any one to their
house after the meeting to socialize and wrap charity gifts. It was
decided to donate $50 from our treasury to give a grocery certificate to
the charity family.
Allen Cyr gave an update on our Winter Bash weekend March 30, April
1 & 2 held at the Green Granite in North Conway, NH. Contract
has been sent out. Everything is all set. Saturday morning
there will be two seminars held: a rider course which will be all
classroom and a co-rider seminar. These seminars will be free.
Safety Tip: Be aware of your surroundings always be prepared
for the unexpected. Do not tailgate especially at this time of year
(wet leaves, black ice, snow, etc.) Leave some extra room between
vehicles when the weather conditions warrant it.
December 17th there will be an all District Christmas party at
Allen and Claudette Cyr’s.
50/50 drawing was held. Bruce Trussell won $14. Congratulations
Bruce! $25 gift card to Walmart was won by Claudette Cyr.
Claudette donated the card to the mother of our charity family.

raffled off.

first year as Chapter Directors.

This is your chapter. Question was brought up about overnight rides.
It was suggested to have at least one overnight ride a month. There
was no feedback on this at the meeting. Please let us know your thoughts
as soon as possible. We want to plan what you want to do.
It was decided to automatically schedule meetings and rides that
fall on a holiday weekend for the following weekend.
Nancy brought up getting together other than for meetings throughout
the winter months such as dinners, lunches, dances, bowling, etc.
Please forward any suggestions you may have. Duncan will be arranging
candlepin bowling in his area for the first of the new year. Details
will be forthcoming.
Claudette gave an update on the Women’s Abuse Center project.
Paperwork is on it’s way. Claudette also collected money from those
at the meeting ($10 per person). Anyone wanting to make donations
for this worthwhile cause, please send your money to Richard King, 15 Shorey
Grove, Bridgton, ME 04009.

will be calling to make the arrangements.
Allen Cyr spoke on his plans to solicit money for the Katrinia funds
to go to only GWRRA families in the affected areas. All Maine GWRRA
members will be receiving a letter either by e-mail or snail mail.
Medical alerts are in. Cost is $6 each.
Rides were also solicited for this coming year. Richard asked
for members to give us their favorite places to go, time of the year
to go, etc. Please forward your information as soon as possible
so that we can get a complete ride schedule by the first of the year.
Starting in November we will be meeting at 1pm on the first Sunday
of the month through the winter months. We will be checking for a
restaurant that will be able to accommodate us. We will keep you
posted.
Richard asked if anyone was interested in get togethers during the
winter months other than our monthly meeting. Please forward your
suggestions and if you would be willing to make any arrangements necessary.
Christmas party was discussed. This year’s party will be at
a restaurant. It will be a meeting/Christmas party held on December
4th at 1pm. Restaurant to be determined.
It was decided we would continue to adopt a family from the Women’s
Abuse Center instead of exchanging gifts. We will be collecting
monetary donations at our November meeting or you can send your money to
us. (Richard King, 15 Shorey Grove, Bridgton, ME 04009). It
was decided that the donation from members would be $10 per person or
more if you want. Claudette Cyr was nice enough to volunteer to
shop for the family. Duncan Saunders mentioned contacting Walmart
as they like to give to charities that help the local area.
Bruce Trussell also mentioned that LLBean might be willing to do
something. Allen mentioned that he would write up a form letter
asking for donations from the businesses mentioned.
Safety Tip: Dress for the colder temperatures and be extra
cautious as motorists aren’t looking for motorcyclists in colder weather.
Richard thanked all the snowbirds for their support and friendship
this past year. He wished them a safe, happy and healthy winter.
We look forward to seeing you all again in the spring.
50/50 drawing was held. Claudette won $20.50! Congratulations

Governor’s Restaurant in Lewiston, ME. Richard King, Chapter Director
for Chapter C welcomed everyone.

Carey, Bob & Cheryl Norcross, Ray & Lois Raymond, Allen &

make the meeting.
Richard announced Bruce Trussell as the new Ride Coordinator and
Dennis Libby as the new Assistant Chapter Director. Applause followed.
Richard then thanked District Directors Allen and Claudette Cyr
for the wonderful District Picnic. Everyone enjoyed the great
food, good weather and hospitality.
Richard brought up this year’s donation to the Shriner’s.
We had already agreed that we would send them an amount of money this
year as we donate to them every other year. Richard brought up the
question of whether we should give all the money to Hurricane Katrina
Fund or split the amount between the two charities. Allen mentioned
that GWRRA Region B (all states) were donating monies to go to only GWRRA
members affected by Hurricane Katrina in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.
It was decided on Maine District level that we would be asking each GWRRA
member to donate a minimum of $5 for this purpose. It was also decided
that phone calls would be made to non-active members for their donations.
Allen is putting the process together and will notify each chapter.
Medical alerts have been ordered. Cost is $6 each.
You will be notified when they are in.
Richard brought up having our rides on Saturdays next year so
that people who cannot ride on Sundays could join us. It was decided
to alternate days for rides. One week ride Saturday, the next week
ride on Sunday. We are planning on having next year’s ride schedule
with all details published by the end of January. This should eliminate
confusion and help people plan.
Rides were also solicited for this fall and coming year.
Allen mentioned having an overnight fall foliage trip to Aroostook County.
Get your names to him or us if you are interested, as reservations will
need to be made. The date is Saturday 10/8 and Sunday 10/9.
Christmas party was discussed. Richard suggested we hold
it at a restaurant. Mariette suggested Old Country Buffet as they
have a big room separate from the main room. It was decided we
would continue to adopt a family from the Women’s Abuse Center instead
of exchanging gifts. We will be collecting monetary donations for
this in the near future. We need volunteers to help with this.
Richard asked if people were interested in having a get-together
restaurant dinner to say good-bye to our snowbirds. It was decided
that we would combine our next meeting on October 2nd to include the good-byes.
We will meet at 1pm at Graciano’s Restaurant in Lisbon Falls for
meeting/good-byes. Allen will make arrangements.
Safety Tip: Falling leaves – Be careful when riding especially
as our fall season approaches. Leaves can be slippery even if not
raining, especially in corners and when stopping. Also be aware
that school is in session and you need to stop for school buses in both
directions.

Congratulations John. John donated his winnings to our Hurricane
Katrina GWRRA relief fund. Thank you John!
