December
On Saturday, December 8th, our new District Directors, Ed & Barb
Mushlit graciously opened their home to the Chapter, for the annual Christmas
party. Those present were our hosts, Ed & Barb Mushlit, Art & Mel
Lane, Richard & Nancy King, John & Micki Poor, Allen & Claudette
Cyr, Bob & Cheryl Norcross, & Dennis & Sandy Wright. We
all enjoyed the fellowship, good food, had our knowledge tested with triva
games & prizes. Barb had a picture board with Chapter member's baby pictures
on it and we all had to try to figure out who was who. Needless to say we
have all definitely changed over the years. We watched a DVD slide show with
music that was a combination of rides & rallies over the past 3 years.
A not so brief meeting was held. No Treasurer report given other
than to announce that a donation
would be sent to the Amercian Cancer Society In Honor of Dennis Libby.
Also, this year's charity was an adopted family from the Women's Abuse
Center.
The Winter Bash was discussed. The annual event is being held April 4th,
5th, & 6th, at the Green Granite Inn, in NH. More details to follow
in future newsletters. Bob & Cheryl checked out a few places that can
accommodate all that attend that weekend. Some of the happenings that weekend
will be the silent auction, games and a social gathering. Allen &
Claudette will be making further arrangements soon.
Allen & Claudette wishes to extend an invitation to everyone to join
them in a pot luck get-to-gether at their home on Saturday, January 19th
at 2:00 P.M.
Possibly in February, an afternoon of bowling and then supper at a restraurant.
More details in the next newsletter.
Allen reported that he had not had any luck in getting the digitized
pattern of the Mainely Wings Chapter C logo, so after the holidays are
over Dennis & I will check into getting a new one done up so if anyone
wants to purchase a shirt with the logo we will have the means to have them
done once again.
Have been looking for suggestions for rides this upcoming season. There
will be a change in the riding schedule this year. Instead of riding every
weekend, the schedule will be the 1st and 3rd weekend of
the month for a club ride. (whether it will be a Saturday or Sunday or
alternating is still up for suggestions). If on the off weekends a chapter
member decides they are going for a ride somewhere, and would like the
company, send us an email and we can let everyone know and they could get
in touch with the member and go along for the ride. Also too, if there happens
to be a special event going on, a ride can be scheduled. One suggestion was
to get in touch with other chapters and maybe combine a ride with them.
A reminder that the dedicaton to the 4 Corners Park in Madawaska is June
28th & 29th 2008. There is an Acadian Festival going on the same weekend,
so book your rooms soon if you plan on attending. That is also the same
time that some will be headed for South Carolina to the Wing Ding.
The floor was given to Claudette and she gave an update on items purchased
for the adopted family. This year's family is a mother with 2 girls ages
9 & 5. This family should have a Merry Christmas thanks
to all of you who generously donated for the cause. A very special thank
you to all of you. We would also like to thank Claudette Cyr and Mel Lane
for taking care of all the shopping for this family.
Ed had reported that there has been no New England Rally registration
forms printed yet, but should be soon. You can go ahead and make your hotel
reservations to the host hotel and mention
GWRRA. As luck will have, as this letter is being written, the rally
registration form is now in and you can go to www.newenglandrally.org to
sign up, or print out the form to mail in.
Here is a note from our District Directors
By now I suppose most of you are suffering from P.M.S. (Parked Motorcycle
Syndrome) as I am.
Our good friends who venture south for the winter are able to avoid this
condition.
Barb and I would like to wish everyone a joyous and happy holiday season.
We hope that all of you and yours stay healthy, safe and warm. It’s
also a great time of year to begin thinking about all of the
upcoming events, rides and rally's in 2008. It’s also a good time to
be thinking about how you can assist by volunteering to participate in fundraisers,
rider education, membership enhancement or perhaps
showing some interest in filling some available officer positions. It’s
a wonderful way to meet new friends and renew old friendships. It can be
a bundle of fun to boot. Contact Dennis and Sandy now and show your support
and interest in GWRRA and the greatest district and best chapter in New
England. Don’t forget to sign up for the All New England Districts
Rally to be held in Rutland, VT.
July 17, 18 & 19. Rally registration info are now posted. Stay tuned
and THINK SPRING !
Yours truly, Ed & Barbara Mushlit
Also too, here is a message from our Assistant Chapter Director, Dennis
Libby.
On November 14th Dennis rode to Augusta to for a Chemo treatment. When
he left for Augusta, it was 28 degrees. On the ride home it was 50 degrees.
Thanksgiving he was in the hospital for a blockage in his stomach. Got
the blockage cleared up and he is now doing fine. He & Bonnie would
like to wish a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all. He will
be seeing us at the January meeting.
Would also like to mention that if anyone knows of a chapter member who
has been ill or has lost an immediate family member, please shoot us an email
so that we may send them a get well wish or
extend our sympathy to them from the chapter.
The safety tip for this month: Even though some have their medical info
on the medical alert helmet straps, it is wise to have the same information
somewhere else either on the bike or somewhere on your
person. This makes things easier for the medical attendants on scene
if you need medical attention. Also too, it was mentioned that to have in
your contact list on your cell phone, ICE (in case of emergency) and have
the number of who ever would be your emergency contact listed under that
contact name. If your first contact would be your spouse, list the number
under ICE1, and when you are both traveling together and a child or sibling
would be the next in line to call, have their number listed as ICE2 etc.
December birthdays: Pat Daigle- 5th, Dotty Weaver- 12th We wish you both
a very happy birthday.
Anyone wishing to have their birthday or anniversary listed, please email
us with the information. We would love to be able to wish you and your
spouse a happy birthday or anniversary. All we need it the
month and day. We do not mention the year.
A letter from Thomas Nason, Illustrious Potentate of the Kora Shriners
was read by Sandra, thanking Maine Chapter C for the generous donation
that was given.
Dennis thanked everyone for coming, and a very special thank you to our
hosts Ed & Barb for welcoming us to their home.
Next meeting will be January 6th 2008 at 1:00 P.M. At Sullys in Winthrop.
Ed will call to confirm.
Dennis and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year. We hope everyone has a safe holiday season. Merry Christmas
Dennis & Sandra Wright, Chapter C Directors

They have been married
for 40 years, have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. We look forward
to working with them on
many upcoming GWRRA functions.
The treasurer report was given by Cheryl Norcross.
The Christmas charity was discussed and decided that instead of exchanging
gifts at the
Christmas party, we would do the same as last year and adopt a family
from the Women's
Abuse Center. The Chapter will also donate to the American Cancer Society.
Last year
$10.00 per person was donated. Everyone was very generous and made
a family very happy.
We ask that you be generous again this year to brighten another family's
Christmas. You can
make your checks payable to GWRRA Chapter -C Maine and send it to Cheryl
Norcross
268 Harris Road Minot, ME 04258. Please send your donation as early

for rides for next

prior to next riding

and suggestions as to
where you would like to go, whether is would be a day ride or an overnight.
Your input is
important.
Allen is checking into getting the digitized pattern of the Mainely
Wings Chapter C logo.
Dennis turned the floor over to Allen Cyr. He thanked everyone for
supporting him and
Claudette while they were in office and he announced that he &
Claudette decided that they
would organized the Winter Bash next year that is usually the 1st weekend

Richard tried to get a feeling if the chapter wanted to do a fall
foliage poker run at Central Maine Power Sports. Ed Mushlit mentioned
it would really matter if we could get enough people to help run/man it.
Also, that we must allow chapter members to participate in the run.
Ed also mentioned that we would need enough people to help so that
stations could be relieved. So, let us know your feelings and if
you would be willing to help. We know it depends on the date (probably
end of September or first part of October) but we need commitments from
you all before we can reserve a date.
