PERU.

Peru is the third bigger country of South America, has a geographical extension of 1'285,216 square kilometers. It extends from North 0° up to 18°21 ' South latitude and of 68°39 ' up to 81°20 ' lenght West.

It is located at the north west of South America and it is crossed by the chain of the Andes from South to North, which is divided into two branches that join themselves in the Knot of Vilcanota (Cusco). From here, it divides into the ranges of eastern and Western Mountains, which joins in the Knot of Pasco. From this place it diverges until joining in the Knot of Loja (Ecuador). Their physical geography is characterized by the varied ecological contrasts conditioned by the Andean Mountain range that serves from barrier to the trade winds that, when colliding with this wall, they condense and the precipitations take place. It is here where originates the Divortium Aquarum of the Pacific and Atlantic basins.

The geographical profile of the Andes presents two floors of ecosystems: the BIOCLIMATIC FLOOR and the FLOOR OF VEGETATION. The first one is the space of the Physical Geography defined by a particular termoclimate and the second is the one that contains the plants. From the bioclimatic point of view two biogeographical units are admitted: THE ANDEAN one and THE AMAZON one. The Andean one, constituted by coast mountain and the Amazon one that involves the hydrographical basin of the Amazon River.

AMAZON FOREST OF PERU.

Amazonia, also denominated the Amazons, is a combination of rivers and pluvial forest, which origins to the most extensive area of tropical forests in the planet, the amazon basin occupies an extension of 2.5 million square miles of territory that includes most of the South American countries. The long river of the earth, "The Amazonas" is one of the largest natural hydrographical basins of the planet that originates in a small thaw at 7,000 feet high in the Peruvian Andes, at only 100 miles of the Pacific Ocean. The Amazon River runs 4,000 miles between the countries of Peru and Brazil, it has 8,600 species of birds and fishes, 25,000 species of plants that have already been identified and that day by day the scientists have been discovering new species. The variety of trees is enormous since 368 species can be identified by each forest hectare.
