GREEN ADVENTURE.

An experience in Sustainable Tourism

Introduction.

The deforestation problems in the Amazon forest are day by day more pressing. The problem is that the local loggers have no idea what "Reforestation" is. They cut down the trees at random, with never any plans to re-plant at least some of the species. All they say is "this is how it has always been done." It has been known for someone to cut down a magnificent Mahogany just to get the honey from a bees nest!

It is the same gameplan with which it is possible to contaminate those infinite oceans .It is this negativity which is causing this exploitation to an alarming degree. The biggest lung of the world is being decimated. Still more innumerable biological species are disappearimg, among which there are many that we do not even know of. The human cultural level of life which has been completely integrated with the natural Jungle environment for thousamds of years of simbiotic existence. Those things that are being hopelessly altered, causing consequently the death and disappearance of the inhabitants of their ancestral lands. Before us lies the great challenge that faces us all to work for co-existence between the Amazon and the civilized world. We have to address the problems and plan a sustainable development. The idea is very simple, we just have to act on the Ecosystem in a way that allows it to continue, without the fear of totally changing the way of life for thousands of people. One of the concepts of sustainable development is the practical application of the best ways to include tourism, without affecting the natural way of life.

For all these reasons we ask that visitor follow a few rules :-
1, Carry out what you carry in
2, Respect the forest and all this precious life
3, Most imfortantly, no tagging or maiming of monkeys or other wildlife, is permitted within the
     community reserve.

GREEN TRAVELS & ADVENTURE LODGE.

Welcome to Green Travels Adventure Lodge. We opened in November 2001, it is one of the newest and most spacious Lodges in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. G.T.A.L. offers spectacular Pristine Primary Jungle where you can freely explore under the guidance of our bilingual native guide. Located on the Yanayacu river, a tributary of the upper Amazon River basin, aproximately 130km. Southeast of Iquitos. G.T.A.L. is a perfect mix between wilderness experience and personal safety and comfort. The lodge is surrounded by an untamed jungle alive with monkeys, fish, caimans, pink dolphins, snakes and many birds with exotic plumage containing every colour imaginable, and their distinctive songs.

After a day of adventure you can go to your private thatched roof bungalow with comfortable beds, shower, flush toilet and kerosene lighting. There is no electricity, only the light of the moon, stars and the fireflies. Then you hear the music of the jungle night life. We invite you to participate in all these new experiences in sustainable tourism. Some of the lodging activities are:
Fishing, trekking, canoeing, birdwatching, a visit to a native village, camping, and a survival trip. An expedition to see the ethnobotany orchids garden, and swim with the pink dolphins. If your sense of adventure goes deeper, we also offer guided overnight camping into the jungle. Please check our pages and learn more about the mystery and magic of the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. It is an adventure that you will never forget.
