Kathryn Chaffin

Objective

My objective is to find challenging work on a part-time basis until I finish to school in 2009. I would like to work 10 to 15 hours per week.

Qualifications

I am an energetic person with a positive attitude and a good work ethic. I am self-motivated in performing tasks that I take an interest in, and I am a very fast and able learner. I have a pleasant demeanor and speaking voice, and generally pride myself in building a good rapport with customers and clients and making them feel appreciated.

I have computer skills which include basic working knowledge of both Apple and P.C. operating systems as well as experience using several different programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Claris Works. I am also well-versed in using the internet, and can type approximately 60 words per minute. 

I am a classically trained pianist with 19 years performance experience, and have learned to play several other instruments (trumpet, trombone, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, and flute) as well. I can read music well, and am very familiar with theoretical musical concepts, musical notation and transcription, harmony, chords, scales, and basic jazz theory and improvisation. I have never taught before, but I am a patient person and I believe I have the interest and enthusiasm for music that is necessary to create a stimulating learning environment. I genuinely enjoy and work well in my interactions with children.

My neat and put-together appearance is a benefit in any workplace, and I am well-liked by most people on their first impression of me. I enjoy meeting new people of all types and am both open-minded and curious about people and their unique personalities. My studies in psychology, sociology and biology reflect my desire to understand how and why people become who they are.

I am currently enrolled at Westwood College, studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of animation. I enjoy drawing and painting, and I take pride in my ability to think creatively.

• Attended for 2 ½ years (5 semesters), starting in the fall of 2001 and continuing to the end of the 2003 fall semester.
• Completed through sophomore level coursework in the major field of psychology, with interests in sociology as well as the biological sciences.
• Participated in the poetry club for one year.
• Attended lectures, recitals, and other student performances and events on campus.

Westwood College

• Currently enrolled in courses as of January 15th, 2007.
• Attended for five semesters, beginning in the summer semester of 2006.
• Anticipated graduation with a bachelor of science degree in Visual Communications in the fall of 2009.

Experience

• Duties included customer service, product display recovery, product display restocking, and light cleaning.
• Pay started at $7.50 per hour, and never increased.
• Reason for leaving was to alleviate stress in my life due to family issues.

• Duties included cash register operation, customer service, multi-line call reception, filing, typing and other miscellaneous secretarial duties, invoicing, AA.A. tow and service call dispatching, light cleaning, and pumping gasoline.
• Pay started at $7.50 per hour, and increased to $12.00 per hour by the end of 2003.
• Consistently earned 90-100% ratings in surprise, random evaluations by “Mystery Shopper” employees of ExxonMobil Corporation.
• Reason for leaving was in order to move to a warmer climate with my family in April of 2004.

• Duties included cash register operation, customer service, food preparation, cooking and cleaning.
• Pay started at $7.50 per hour, and increased to $8.00 per hour within 6 months.
• Reason for leaving was unresolved, personal differences with the manager of the store.
