Chapter 1

"I remember it was a sunny day in the town I used to live. Like the other days that week there hadn't been much clouds on the sky, which made me and my father a bit worried. We already tried to irrigate the fields ourselfs, but it was hard work and it didn't really pay off compared to a good rainy day. After getting out of my bed I walked towards the orchard, the place which reminds me the most of my mother. I was still very young when she died, about the age of 3, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. How she fell down against one of the apple-trees all of a sudden to never wake up... My father told me everything would be alright and it would, but still, since that very moment, the farm started to make less profit through the years and started to lose lands. Dad decided back then that it would be better to have some land to live of and some gold for times in need, then extra lands which we couldn't manage by the two of us anyways. There I went, into the orchard, to harvest some apples. After that I continued to the mill and back at home I baked some bread. When my father woke up breakfast was ready, as usual.

After the breakfast he went out to the fields again, only to return home late in the evening, with a good meal waiting for him. I started cleaning up the plates and mugs and then went to school. Well, it wasn't really a school. All I learned was how good King Tibianus was, how to be a good farmer and how to master a sword, the right way. After that I went back home to prepare dinner, but when it was ready and already dark outside I still hadn't heard a word from my father. I first wondered if I should start looking for him, but when another hour had passed, I started my search. Accompanied by a small oil lamp and a good warm coat I went out of the house, in the direction of the nearest barn. I opened the door, but only to find some sleeping pigs and sheeps. So I closed the door and went out for the other barn. As I opened it I noticed it was not locked, which was something I hadn't expected, but the reason was soon revealed. My dad lay there, on the ground, with a pool of blood around him."

"Son...Son...is that you?" he said with a soft voice.
"Yes, it's me father.. What happend?"
"Bandits son, bandits.. They couldn't get anything to raid here, so they took my life instead.." He stopped and coughed a moment. "But son, that is of no importance. These wounds.. they are too big to be healed so I will die soon. I hope you don't mind, but I don't really care about it. I'd be happy to finally join my wife.."
"But father... I can't run the farm on my own! I need you!"
"Son, please listen to me. I want you to sell the farm. Then, with the gold you got, buy yourself some armor and a decent weapon. Got that?" I nodded.
"Good. Then I want you to travel to the Kingdom of Tanelorn." "Tanelorn? What is that?"
"It's a isle south of Carlin."
"But why should I go there?"
"You have heard of the war right? Well, it's comming our way and I want you to survive. As a second note, you have a sister there."
"A sister..?" I asked while blinking, totally confused.
"Yes... I used to travel alot in the old days, to Tanelorn too. There I met this woman, a beautiful young lady and.. we had a child, a daughter. Due to circumstances I had to leave the Kingdom though.. but she should still be there.." He coughed a few times while saying it.
"Then I'll go to Tanelorn."
"And son, take care of yourself." My dad said while touching my face. I felt his cold hand on my skin and then started to get tears in my eyes. I hugged my father, my father... who was now dead.

Chapter 2

"I didn't sleep much that night. Thinking of what had just passed and what was about to happen.. It was too much for a simple boy like me. Still, I managed to get over it. It's better to live on and honour those who've passed, then die and dishonour them. I went to town with the spare gold and the house's papers from dad's locker and with some old robe I found underneath his bed. I locked down the house, leaving only the furniture in there, and started to walk up the path towards the road. Even though it isn't a long walk to town it's a difficult one, as the roads aren't hardened and when it rains they are unwalkable. Added to that should be the weight of the pack on my back, as I was carrying alot of things."

I walked into town and noticed there was something wrong. People walked from their houses to carts and loaded stuff on them. All the people I saw were busy, except for an old man, who was sitting in front of his house, smoking a pipe. I walked to him and sat down on the bench, ending up with a strange look next to me.

"Who are you kid?" The man asked.
"I am Perseus, Sir."
"Nice to meet you Perseus. Ain't going to run from the war?" The man looked back to his pipe. "I was told to yes, but after this long walk, I don't know if I can go all the way."
"Ain't got a horse kid? Because you could get mine. I don't need to run from here anyway. Come with me." The man got up and started to walk towards the center of town. I decided to follow him, curious as I was. He lead me to the town's stables and in there was a beautiful white horse. The man just nodded at me and then wanted to depart, but I halted him. I handed him the house's papers and then told him to do something good with it. He nodded again and walked out of the stables.

"I waited till I was alone in the stables, then opened the small door in front of the horse. The horse did a few steps and then it sniffed my face. I mounted it a few moments later and then joined the group of townsmen that were about to leave the village. It's better to ride in groups then to travel alone, as there are always bandits on the look out. There still are actually, but these days they aren't a big match for someone like me. They were back then, so I rode with the group, till late in the evening, when we put up camp. I shouldn't have done that afterwards, but what did I know.. The next morning, everyone was gone, leaving me only with my horse, clothes and sword. The damn robbers."

I looked around to see where I was, but I couldn't really find a point of recognition. I did see a huge mountain just next to me and a small path that was clearly heading upwards. I woke up Thunder, the horse, and mountained him. Then I gave orders to ride up the path in the hope to have a better view of the place up there. Just a few hours later we reached a small plateau with a entrance into the mountain. While searching for the continuation of the path, I suddenly heared a strange sound. Thunder turned and their stood a man, as tall as a 4 story building, with a culb in his hand. The man bowed to take a closer look on me, with his one eye. Then he raised himself again together with his club, just before smashing it in the ground, where I just had stood. Thunder had saved my life by moving between the legs of the man and I knew what to do about this beast. I grabbed my sword and pierced it into his right ankle. The blood that flooded out and the sound the man produced were unbearable and so I passed out...

Chapter 3

I woke up with the taste of mud in my mouth and the smell of fire in my nose. I coughed a few times and then tried to get up, while opening my eyes. I had to get used to the dark, as the sun was almost down. I looked around searching for my sword but I couldn't find it anywhere. I sighed. Then looked back at Thunder. He was just standing there, nodding at me. I sighed again and then walked towards him and mounted. The horse knew where to go and while it started going up the path again I grabbed some meat from my pack. It didn't seem to great but still it was food, so I started to chew on it. I wish I still had my small notebook back then, it would have gotten me something to do while riding, but alas..

After finishing a meal of meat and thinking about what the smell could mean we reached the top of the mountain. I got off Thunder and walked towards the edge. Looking towards the South my thoughts were explained. On the place were formerly Thais had stood, there was now one big orange glowing. Thais was on fire. The city of King Tibianus, the city that ruled most of the lands on Tibia, the city I loved as a child.. Some tears came from my eyes but when I tried to wipe them I suddenly noticed I couldn't move anymore.
"So, who are you?" A voice sounded in the background.
"I am Perseus, Sir."
"Perseus who?"
"Just Perseus, Sir."
"Tell me your family name!" I felt a cold feeling going through my chest.
"I don't have any family anymore. My dad died a few days ago and my mother has been dead for a while now." I heared a sigh in the background and could move again. So I turned and saw a small man, with a big white beard.
"My name is Serret. Serret Brokenblood. Welcome to my little hideout." He smiled and turned around. "Follow me" he said while starting to walk.

"I still remember Serret. I don't know what happend to him in all these years, but still I have the feeling he's alive. He's not living on his old spot anymore though. I've been there a few years ago, but the only thing I could find was the old sign, now saying: "Welcome to Bloodville. Inhabitants: 0." It used to say 4. Serret, his parrot, Thunder and me. But I left before and he did too I guess. I did think about asking Pierce, but he might have just slayed me before entering his cave. Serret's hut still was there, but the door cloth had been removed. There wasn't anything inside the hut aswell, except for the table, chair and bed. A pity there was only one bed in there, so I had to sleep outside, next to Thunder with a small blanket on me. And sleeping like that, Serret learned my magic during the day. Starting with the simple spells and ending with the more advanced ones. Except for the special ones ofcourse, those were only taught in the Magic Academy of Edron, where they still are. Still, Serret's spells were a good basic."

Chapter 4

I woke up and felt like there was an earthquake. The whole ground was trembling and Serret was running around in front of me. I wondered what was going on but Serret already ran off, leaving me alone in Bloodville.
Thunder was still sleeping behind me and so I kicked of the blanket and tried to get up. Serret already got back when I was finally on foot.
"So, you've killed Arachnet?" He asked with a worried look on his face.
"Who's Arachnet?"
"One of the cyclopian brothers.. Actually, Pierce's son."
"Well.. is a cyclop as big as 5 humans and has it got one eye?"
"Thought it was you.. Well, you just set of most of them..Good thing is they think it's the undeads that killed him, so you won't have trouble."
He sighed and walked into his hut.

"The rest of the day the earth didn't stop shaking. The cyclopians were so mad at the loss of one of their brothers that they were preparing for war that very moment. It was good that Serret knew their leader, Pierce, well, otherwise I might have been dead that same day. In stead of that we started with the arts of magic and so I learned the spell "Utevo Lux" and "Exura" that day. Of course, I had to practice alot on them the following days, as magic isn't taught in one day. Still these spells weren't to hard and I got to a decent amount of light and a rather big wound healed within a week.
After that, Serret taught me more and more magic, first Great Light, then Greater Healing then Force Strike and so on..

He was a really good teacher. I asked him one day, how he had gotten to that and he told me he had been a teacher in the Edron Academy for Magic Arts once. But he got fired there. All because of one of his students, called Khal. This student was so keen on learning that Serret taught him one of the most advanced spells, Ultimate Explosion. But when Khal had learned it there were people starting to get killed around Edron, leaving Serret to have to kill him. In the end Serret got stamped as a murderer, so he had to leave for the mountains, where nobody could find him.

Chapter 5

I started to grow up there on the top of the mountain. I got older by the day, more in contact with nature, my beard started to grow, my arms started to get muscles, my legs got taller by the day and my arms kept on growing.
Serret watched me and guided me all the time, from the start, to the runemaking, to the end. Unfortunatly he couldn't teach me all spells. Some of the advanced require scrolls, potions or rituals, which he couldn't perform on his own. But so, after years of training I ended my education. He told me I was ready to set out and so I did a few days later."

I grabbed my pack and woke up Thunder. It was just before the break of dawn and I didn't want to wake Serret up, but he was already outside when I was mounting Thunder. He walked towards me and gave me a letter.
"If you ever travel to Edron, ask for my wife, and hand her this letter." he said. I promised I would and we hugged each other.
"You should go to Carlin. It's the city to the north-west of here and to my thought still uccopied by humans."
"I'll go there. My father told me a ship would leave for Tanelorn there, so, it's the only place I can go actually."
"So you want to go there? Remember my teachings then, as the undeads are roaming there. Watch yourself, Perseus. Watch yourself."
I turned Thunder and put my heels in his side. He started to walk down the small path towards the Dwarven territory. With a small river in my sight, I hummed an old melody my father used to sing.
"Oh me hearties, for simpler times..when nary a bridge in sight...".
The times were getting better..

Chapter 6

"I think that was the first time I met dwarfs and goblins. Those gnomes.. Rather great races actually. The dwarfs, known all over the world for their mines and the goblins for their unmatchable greed. I just slayed them at the time, as I wanted to see Carlin, the city of females. I noticed aswell while going through the fields that the lands were starting to look like forests. Farmers must have fled for the undeads, or the dwarves had finally gotten the rest to build their forests. Either way, nature got control there. As Thunder started to feel uncomfortable he started to run faster and it wasn't long before I saw the walls of Carlin. With two great huntress statues in front of the gates you could clearly see who ruled here."

I pulled off my hood and shook out my hair, which was rather long, before entering the city. A guard stopped me a moment asking "Your name and hometown, please." Which I answered correctly. She let me pass and so I walked into the city searching for a Tavern. I couldn't find it anywhere but I did find the local food shop, where I bought some new meat. Then I walked towards the harbour. There was a big crowd there so I had to search some time. Trying to get through the mass of people I went to one of the boats that had a unknown flag on it. A tall man was waiting at the signpost.
"Looking for a ship?" he said.
"Well, for a passage to Tanelorn."
"Lucky you are..I'm sailing there soon with the new recruits. All you have to do is sign here." The man handed me a parchment. "I am Aragorn. People call me Ranger aswell."
"Perseus, glad to meet you." I said while shaking hands. "So, recruits for a new army.. To fight the undeads?"
"Yes Sir. Those Hordes.. They still have to be beaten. Only the Capital and Drenitem are still human.." he said while I scribbled my name on the parchment. "Welcome to Tanelorn, Perseus."
"Thank you Aragorn." I said while grabbing my things and walking aboard.

"I spent the night on the ship, dreaming of my future. Of slaying undeads, freeing people, liberating cities and of finally finding my sister.

The dreams were good, the times after a bit less, but in the end I thank my father for bringing me here. Hail Tanelorn!"

In memory of Cherry-flower,
Perseus.

All hail Banor, for he is our God.
