Endymion Spring

There are thousands of good books in a library just waiting to be checked out and read. Blake just happened to be in the wrong stack at the wrong time.

     "All of a sudden, he stopped. One of the volumes had struck him back! Like a cat, it had taken a playful swipe at his fingers and ducked back into hiding. He whisked his hand back as though stung."
    
     Blake pulled the book off the shelf. He read the title, Endymion Spring. Blake cautiously opened the book and found hundreds of blank pages except for a small riddle written on a page in the center of the book. His interest was captured. When the book disappears from the library, Blake resolves to find the book and learn its secrets.
    This book is a mix of mystery, fantasy, history, and myth. The author has beautifully crafted his book, tying Blake's adventures to the life of another young boy living hundreds of years earlier. It is almost impossible to stop reading this book because the author really draws you into the story line. Skelton does an amazing job using words to describe and illustrate his debut novel.  This is a fairly complicated book, and I would recommend it to readers 10 and up. It's not for anyone looking for a really short read! This is an exciting book. I'm sure that anyone who reads it will absolutely love it. I am looking forward to more books from Matthew Skelton.

    These are funny books. Imagine a Siamese cat who thinks he is a Chihuahua! Skippyjon Jones gets into a lot of trouble pretending to be a Chihuahua because his mom wants him to be good and act like a cat. When he draws the cock-eyed Chihuahuas on the wall, I really laughed! I like the songs that he makes up and sings. The pictures in the book are funny and colorful. I think you will enjoy reading these books, especially if you like animals.

March bounds in on rabbit's legs
Announcing spring's arrival.
Shouting loudly, thunderstorms bring the news.
Raining, windy, cold, sunny, the seasons shift
Then March prances off leaving speckles of green.

Monthly Math Challenge
This month I decided to just use an algebra problem that I wrote.

     Solve for b when y=7

     y3(square root of b + 10) / 28 = 220.5     ("y3" stands for "y cubed" not "y times 3")

E-mail me with your answer. The first three people with the correct answer will have their names published in next month's website!

Depending on how or if you rounded the 5 feet 4 inch shadow (5 feet 4 inches is 5 1/3 feet or 5.33333)
you would arrive at an answer somewhere between 357.75 feet to 360 feet.
