My Car Rocks
Choosing My Car
"Are you gonna stand around til 2012 a.d.? What are you waiting for, a certain shade of green?"
~ Incubus, "A Certain Shade of Green"

Ever since the Dodge Neon came out in 1995, I have wanted one. I'm not quite sure what it is about the car that made me want one. Maybe it's just the shape of the car, maybe it's because they come in purple, or maybe it's just because I liked the commercials. All I know is that I've wanted one since I was eleven. I told everyone that I would own a Neon and never considered another car.

I was very excited when my sister got a black Neon for her first car. I was devastated when she crashed it two days later. I think I was more upset about it than she was. I don't think I'll ever forget that day. Of course, not everyone is special enough to own a Neon. My sister moved on with her life and bought a Saturn a month later. She tried to convince me not to get a Neon and told me that they were not safe, but she could not undo six years of wanting a Neon. I don't know why she even tried to change my opinion about the car I wanted for so long. She was trying too hard to blame her accident on the car and forgot that she was the one driving it.
Squeaky the NeonI finally got my own Neon right before my senior year started. I love the car even more than I thought I would. There was a man at the car dealership who we had worked with to get both of my sister's cars. He was going to let us know if a Neon came in, but couldn't promise us a purple one. The day my car came in, he drove it to my house so I could see it. I liked the car a lot, but wasn't going to get it because the mileage was so high. My dad went to look at it the next day and said that the car was in excellent shape and I didn't have to worry about the mileage. Two days later, we went to the dealership and picked up the car. I was so excited to finally own my Neon and, unlike Melissa, I have been able to keep my car for more than two days.
Although I rarely admit it, my car is not perfect, but don't tell her I said that. I named her Squeaky mainly because her brakes squeak, but sometimes the doors and windows do too. It doesn't bother me. I would also like my car better if it had a cd player, sunroof, bigger cupholders, better acceleration, and if it was purple. Of course, my sister would like it to have power windows and locks, but I don't need those. My car is a million times better than Melissa's and that is something that is hard to argue.
