| I think my parents did a pretty good job raising four daughters because we all turned out okay. I would up becoming a little bit of everyone in my family. I got my sense of humor, intelligence, and musical abilities from my dad. My mom gave me my perfectionism and caffeine tolerance. Melissa gave me my love of running and a few bruises from always punching me in the arm. Heather and I are both very sensitive and share a love of music. We listen to different music, but she is always stealing songs from me. Courtney and I are both pretty quiet and keep a lot of things to ourselves. | ![]() |
My pets have their own personalities too. We found Dodger roaming the streets of Bound Brook when he was about ten weeks old. We were only going to keep him until we found his owners, but no one ever claimed him. He is the greatest dog in the world.
We have also had some other birds who aren't alive anymore. Smokey was another cockatiel we had who our aunt gave us. She actually caught her and we didn't know anything about her history and she was often sick. She and Binky became good friends. We also had two parakeets named Kiwi and Tweety. Kiwi was my bird and I called her my little acrobat. I taught her to do flips around her perch and she would do a flip every time she wanted to come out of her cage. She was very tame and only bit me when she was really mad at me. I was so shocked when she died that I cried for days. Tweety was Heather's bird, but I was the one who took care of him. We called him Chubby because he was bigger than Kiwi. He liked to listen to the same music that I do and would sing along whenever I turned on the radio. He actually died in my hands and waited for me to give him permission to leave. Sometimes, when it's quiet, I can still hear parakeet chatter. I'll miss my parakeets forever.
I'm definetly a dog person so of course I'm going to own more one day. I really want to own a rottweiler because they're really cute and make really good pets if you train them properly. I've also been thinking about getting a bernese mountain dog because I've seen a few at work and their owners say they are more like giant teddy bears than dogs. They're cute and really friendly.
There are a few other pets I'll probably wind up getting. I want a hyacinth macaw because they are beautiful and really big. I also want to get another parakeet one day and a few fish because they're easy to keep.

We got Chessie a week after we moved to North Brunswick. Someone was giving away free kittens and she was the last one left. She seems to think she is a dog and doesn't realize she is really a cat. She thinks I am her mom and runs to see me when I come home and when I call her. I am not a cat person, but she is one of only two cats that I like.
We got Cuddles about a month after we got Chessie. She was abandoned by the people who used to live behind us and was being tortured by neighborhood kids. She is a really big mush and I don't know why they would have just left her there. She's fun because she won't run when she's scared and instead tries to make herself as small as possible so you won't see her. Our two birds get along pretty well. We got Topaz when she was about three months old. She constantly wants attention and will scream if we don't let her out of her cage. Her favorite food is marcaroni and cheese. I got Binky from my ex-boyfriend and he has always been a little scared. Until we got him, he was only fed once a week and always pulled his feathers out. We helped him get better, but two years later he lost mobility in his feet. The vet said it could be arthritis or something else, but there was nothing we could do to help him. He couldn't grip onto the perches so we moved him into an aquarium where he can run around. I don't think he even realizes that he can't do things the same way he used to. He's happy anyway.

There is a whole herd of hamsters in my house. They were actually a part of Melissa's AP Psychology project. Mork and Mindy are the parents, but Mindy isn't alive anymore. They had five children: two boys, Mindicus and Little Mork; three girls, P.B., Jay, and Parvissima.Mindicus was adopted by Linda, one of our coworkers, and she named him Jelly Roll. Parvissima and Little Mork are my two hamsters. Parvissima is a little brat and she won't let me pick her up without screaming. She was the runt of the litter and I don't think she got much attention from her mother. Little Mork's personality is similar to his father's. He likes to spend time outside his cage and tries to get onto the floor where he can run around. Both hamsters spend a lot of time sleeping, but Parvissima also spends a lot of her spare time trying to break out of her cage. She piles up all the toys in her cage and climbs on top of them to try to escape. One of my many quirks is my cricket catching. Yes, I have pet crickets. I save them from the Petco's while I'm working. Most of them are running loose so I catch them and keep them. If I leave them there, they are destined to die from starvation or being stepped on. I can't let that happen to the poor crickets! That's like some strange form of cruelty to animals! Of course everyone thinks I'm insane, which I agree with, but I can't just leave them there to die there all alone on the cold Petco floor. So instead, I have containers for them to live in and I give them grass and cricket food and cricket water. They're happier this way and it extends their lives by up to two weeks which is like 75 cricket years. And then I have the crickets who just won't die. Cricket3 is about three months old right now which is about 800 in cricket years. She is really friendly and is not afraid of me at all. She waves her antennae at me when she senses I'm there as if to say hello. I wonder how long she'll stay around.
