Habits of Inquiry Summation Paper
H.L.O stands for Hoover Learner Outcome and for one of these
descriptors I'll be talking about Habits of Inquiry and it's projects.
Habits of Inquiry show that students work on the things that have to do
with research and technology. I will be talking about three projects of
Habits of Inquiry that summarizes this in a paragraph form. The three
projects I will be discussing in this summation paper which satisfy Habits
of Inquiry are the Earl Rochester Time Write, What makes people happy?
Time Write, and the AOIT video project
The first project I will be talking about is the Earl Rochester Time Write
in which I completed in 12th grade in my World Literature class. The
project is about alcohol and teens buying them illegally. The steps I took
to complete this project was reading the Time Write story and writing the
time write with my opinions on the story. This satisfies the HLO because
it distinguishes and states facts from opinions that acknowledge different
points of views. It also demonstrates the ability to apply decisions of
solutions to future situations by making predictions, connections, and
recommendations.
My second project that I will be talking about that satisfies the HLO of
Habits of Inquiry is the "What Makes People Happy?" Time Write,
which I completed in 12th grade. The time write talks about what makes
people happy in life wheatear it's their family, friends and other. My
career research essay satisfies the Hoover Learner Outcome Lifelong
Learning because I planned for the future by researching a career of my
choice. This project satisfies the HLO because it uses Standard English in
a variety of writing types and in verbal communication. This also
satisfies the HLO because it demonstrates awareness and understanding of
post high school options and career choices.
The last project that I would talk about is the AOIT video project that I
completed in the 12th grade. For this project we worked in groups and went
around tapping students/teachers from the AOIT. After all the tapping we
put up the video together in our multimedia class and added music and
effects to make a good promotional video. This satisfies the HLO because
this uses appropriate electronic information sources that include the
video camera that we use to research, interpret and process the
information. It also demonstrates creativity by asking essential questions
using habits of mind evidence, connection, supposition and significance.
The Hoover Learner Outcome Habits of Inquiry is important because it
teaches the students more about technology and working with technology. By
focusing on this Hoover Learner Outcome at Hoover High School I have
learned to work on interesting technology that was taught us in the AOIT
and other classes. AOIT has classes that help us work on computers like
our T.S.S classes and our BACA classes. Our science class is another thing
that helps us work with technology like our physics and biology class we
get to work on hands on things.
