SIX DEGREES OF GABRIELLE MILLER
[Rules of the game]       [Answers: Schwarzenegger - Klemperer]      [Answers: Leno - Paul]

.) CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER (2): Gabrielle was in "Starlight" with Rae Dawn Chong, who was in "Commando" with Schwarzenegger.

.) "ALIEN" STAR SIGOURNEY WEAVER (3): Gabrielle has been in every "Corner Gas" episode with Brent Butt, who appeared with "Millenium" episode "Beware of the Dog" with series lead Lance Henriksen, who appeared in "Aliens" and Alien 3 with Weaver.

.) "JAG" STAR DAVID JAMES ELLIOTT (2): Gabrielle has been in every "Corner Gas" episode with Eric Peterson, who was in "Street Legal" with Elliott.

.) "JAG" STAR CATHERINE BELL (2): Gabrielle was in "The Silencer" with Michael Dudikoff, who was in "Black Thunder" with Bell. Note: both "JAG" stars can also be linked to Gabrielle in two steps by way of Erich Anderson, who was in "Due East" with Gabrielle and also appeared in "JAG" episode "Jag-a-Thon."

.) NEW YORK YANKEES SHORTSTOP AND CAPTAIN DEREK JETER (4): This is what I get for living with a Yankees fan. Former New York Met Keith Hernandez was on Seinfeld just like Jeter was, but no mention of that...Gabrielle was in "Marine Life" with Cybill Shepherd, who was in "Americathon" with Jay Leno, who was in "Jerry Seinfeld," who was in "Seinfeld" episode "The Abstinence" with Jeter.

.) "LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRARIE" STAR MICHAEL LANDON (2): Gabrielle was in "Breaking News" with Tim Matheson, who was in a number of episodes of "Bonanza" with Landon in 1972 and 1973.

.) COMIC LEGEND BILL COSBY (2): Gabrielle was in "Jeremiah" episode "The Touch" with Malcolm Jamal-Warner, who played Cosby's son in "The Cosby Show." This can also be accomplished in two steps starting with a movie called "The More You Know," in which Cosby appeared with Angie Harmon (Harmon was in "Video Voyeur" with Gabrielle).

.) "KISS" BASS GUITARIST / VOCALIST GENE SIMMONS (3): Gabrielle was in "Frasier" episode "Coots and Ladders" with Kelsey Grammer, who was in numerous episodes of "Cheers" with Kirstie Alley, who was in the movie "Runaway" with Simmons. The first step can be replaced by linking Grammer to George Wendt (who appeared in "Rupert's Land" with Gabrielle) or Rhea Perlman (who, like Gabrielle, was in "In the Doghouse").

BUT: In December of 2005, a fan of Gabrielle's wrote in to this site to let me know that connecting Gene Simmons and Gabrielle can be done in two steps. Gabrielle was in "Da Vinci's Inquest episode "The Capture" with Donnelly Rhodes, who was in "Millennium" episode "Thirteen Years Later" with Simmons. I stand corrected, impressed, amused and humbled. Nicely done.

.) FORMER SOVIET FILM STAR NATALYA NEGODA (2): At least 99% of Americans haven't heard of her, but almost everyone in the former Soviet Union's fifteen republics has: Negoda was the star of the 1988 film "Little Vera," which holds the distinction of being the first Soviet film to feature a topless scene and had twice the shock effect on Soviets back then as Rhett Butler's "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" did on Americans in 1939. Negoda, who lives in Los Angeles now, made her way into a few English Language productions, to include an episode of "Law and Order." To connect an actress who shocked millions of communists to Gabrielle, all you need is two steps: a.) Gabrielle appeared with Ian Tracey in "Rupert's Land" (and two episodes of "Da Vinci's Inquest"), and b.) Tracey appeared with Negoda in "Comrades of Summer," which is one of the two or three most entertaining sports movies I've ever seen (and you don't even need to like baseball to enjoy it).

.) "POSEIDON ADVENTURE" STAR ERNEST BORGNINE (2): Gabrielle was in "Inspectors 2: A Shred of Evidence" with Jonathan Silverman, who was the star of a TV series called "The Single Guy," in which Borgnine appeared in numerous episodes as the doorman in The Single Guy's apartment building.

.)  "FRIENDS" MEGA-NERD DAVID SCHWIMMER (2) Gabrielle was in "Judgement Day: The John List Story" with David Caruso, who b.) was one of the stars of NYPD Blue when Schwimmer had his recurring role as "4B" in the first season of the series.

.)  RUSSIAN ACTOR MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV (4): Follow the steps I used for Ernest Borgnine, who was in "The Poseidon Adventure" with Gene Hackman, who d.) was in "Company Business" (one of my all-time favorite movies) with Baryshnikov. There's probably a faster way to do this one; if you know of one, drop me a line.

.)  PATRICK STEWART (U.S.S. ENTERPRISE CAPTAIN JEAN-LUC PICARD) (2):
Gabrielle appeared in "Due East" with Erich Anderson, who appeared in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Conundrum" with Stewart.

.)  WILLIAM SHATNER (U.S.S. ENTERPRISE CAPTAIN JAMES KIRK) (2): Gabrielle appeared in "Rupert's Land" with George Wendt, who appeared in "Airplane II" with Shatner.

.)  "HAWAII FIVE-O" STAR JACK LORD (2): Gabrielle was in "Digger" with Leslie Nielsen, who was in "The Vagabond King" with Lord.

.)  ALL-TIME NBA GREAT KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR (2): Gabrielle was in "Breaking News" with Tim Matheson, who was in "Fletch" with Abdul-Jabbar. This one can also be accomplished in two steps through the movie "Digger," in which Gabrielle appeared with Leslie Nielsen, as Nielsen was in "Airplane" with Abdul Jabbar.

.)  KEVIN BACON, WHOSE CAREER WAS THE ORIGINAL INSPIRATION FOR THIS GAME (2): I should have seen this one coming, but it's not difficult: Gabrielle was in "Digger" with Olympia Dukakis, who was in "Picture Perfect" with Bacon. Another two-step option: Gabrielle was in "The Silencer" with Andrew Johnston, who was in "Criminal Law" with Bacon.

.)  MARTIAL ARTS STAR JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME (2): Gabrielle was in "Floating Away" with Rosanna Arquette, who was in "Nowhere to Run" with Van Damme. Another way to do this in two steps would go like this: Gabrielle was in "Marine Life" with Scott Bellis, who was in "Timecop" with Van Damme.

.)  MARTIAL ARTS SUPERSTAR STEVEN SEAGAL (3): Gabrielle was in "Digger" with Olympia Dukakis, who was in "The Cemetery Club" with Jerry Orbach, who was in "Out for Justice" with Seagal.

.)  MARTIAL ARTS MEGA-STAR JACKIE CHAN (2): Gabrielle was in "Marine Life" with Eliza Murbach, who was in "Shanghai Noon" with Chan.

.)  MARTIAL ARTS DEMIGOD BRUCE LEE (3): Gabrielle was in Floating Away with Judge Reinhold, who was in Beverly Hills Cop III with John Saxon, who was in Enter the Dragon with Lee.

.) "TRU CALLING" STAR ELIZA DUSHKU (2): Gabrielle was in Floating Away with Stephen E. Miller, who was in This Boy's Life with Dushku.

.) "BACK TO THE FUTURE" STAR MICHAEL J. FOX (2): Gabrielle was in "Jane's House" with James Woods, who was in "The Hard Way" with Fox.

.)  GROSSLY OVERRATED COMEDIAN / ACTOR ROBIN WILLIAMS (2): Gabrielle appeared in "Twilight Zone" episode "To Protect and Serve" with Forest Whitaker, who was in "Good Morning Vietnam" with Williams. I'll admit that Williams was outstanding in "Moscow on the Hudson," but outside of that movie I never really saw the appeal.

.)  BOB CRANE (COLONEL HOGAN IN "HOGAN'S HEROES") (3): Gabrielle was in "Floating Away" with Judge Reinhold, who was in "Crab Orchard" with Ed Asner, who was in "Gus" with Crane.

However, this came in from a site reader: "Bob Crane can be connected to Gabrielle Miller in two moves. Gabrielle was in Pasadena episode "Don't it Always Seem to Go?" with Barbara Babcock, who was in Hogan's Heroes episode "One in Every Crowd" with Bob Crane. You can connect Gabrielle to Werner Klemperer in two moves the same way, although I see you already did that one in two."

It should be pointed out that Babcock was actually in three episodes of Hogan's Heroes with Crane, but the reader is correct.

.)  WERNER KLEMPERER (COLONEL KLINK IN "HOGAN'S HEROES") (2): Gabrielle was in "Digger" with Leslie Nielsen, who was in "Dark Intruder" with Klemperer.
