Gestation period is usually 15 to 17 days.
Before Birth

Day 1 Day 2 Day 3
Depending on
the colour of the winter white pups, the skin will gradually darken and
pigmented around the 4th to 6th day.

Day 4 Day 5
Day 6
The
pups should be covered in short fur and the eyelids should have developed
by the 10th day. The pups will start leaving their nest and go
wandering in the cage. The mother usually will be running after the
wandering pups to return them to the nest. This is often accompanied by
squeaks but that is not anything to worry about. This is a good time to
level the water bottle so that they can reached them when exploring the
cage, At
5th to 7th day, they have little short hair on their
body.

Day 7

Day 8 Day 9 Day 10
Their eyes should be opened by the 14th day and
the babies are well covered in fur. It is safe to handle the pups for short
periods of the time and this is a good time to clean out the cage too. Giving the mother plenty of protein food such as low fat
milk or bread soaks in milk, vegetables, cheese. Boiled egg or even
mealworm will be beneficial.
Day 11 Day 12 Day 13

Day
14 Day
15 Day 16
The babies are fully weaned and can be removed from the
mother at 3 weeks of age and it is a good idea to separate the sexes at this time
placing males in one cage and females in another. The babies should be kept with their brothers and sisters in
their separate sex cages for another 2-3 weeks.
