| At first the fighters such as Frieza's minions and the saiyans used scouters to detect energy coming from a distance away. Soon as everyone became stronger and stronger they became useless to use, because they would start to over heat and break once someone's powerlevel exceeds over around 30,000. So of course they would do no good when you have a high powerlevel. Scouters- Scouters are used by Frieza's gang mostly. They were introduced in Dragonball Z when Radditz came to Earth wearing one. Bulma found out it detected power so she worked on it and got it to translate the powerlevel in English. It broke when Goku and Vegeta were fighting on Earth and Goku's power went around 30,000. After the fight on Namek with Frieza there was no point in having a scouter because the would just break when the power level goes too high. Ki Detection- Ki detection is always useful to the Z-Fighters. When the scouters became useless they had to be able to read energy. They can't tell exactly how strong someone is, but they could find out if they are stronger or weaker than their opponent. At first only people from Earth such as Goku, Krillin, and Piccolo could use Ki detection, but after Vegeta came to Earth he learned how to use it also, and this really helped them out in Namek. Ki detection measures how strong someone is by their ki around them. The only people who cannot have their powerlevel sensed are the androids, because they dont use a ki when flying or powering up. |
