Christmas is a time of celebration. You knew that right? Okay so you've heard many Christians going on about how Christmas is too commercialised, too much about parties, too much about fun and although they may have valid points they are surely missing the point.
So what is the point? Well I believe that God came down to Earth, born as the baby Jesus you all know from the nativity scenes in schools and shop windows. Why? To live a perfect live and to die as a perfect sacrifice for our sin. Sounds a bit too religious don't it?? Well, breaking it down we all have turned our backs on the God who created us perfect in every way; think about it when was the last time you thought about someone lustfully, told someone a little white lie, blasphemed.... We're all done it but I believe that Jesus came to Earth and died so that God would forgive me by looking at Jesus's death not mine and so I may live forever in heaven with him.
That is why this Christmas I will be celebrating; singing carols, enjoying family meals, rocking with my favourite band, opening presents... Christmas is about love, God's love that he showed for us by offering us forgiveness if we put our trust in what Jesus has done and I hope to share a bit of that love with everyone else this Christmas too.
