For this assignment: Group members will work in teams researching their topics together. Each team will complete a single page for the class newspaper. Each team member will contribute one editorial article to their group page. (That means there will be six articles per team altogether.) Of those six articles per team, three must be "for" articles and three must be "against" articles. We want the opinions within our class paper to be equally represented and balanced. Each team member will contribute one appropriate photograph that compliments each editorial article. Each team must then present their topic and then discuss and defend their opinions on their topic. Team One Topic: Flag Burning - Should it be protected under the First Amendment as a form of free speech? OR Should it be outlawed because some find it offensive and disrespectful? TeamTwo Topic: Book Bans - Should public libraries ban certain books because some may find their content obscene or objectionable? OR Does censoring or banning books violate the freedoms granted by the First Amendment? Team Three Topic: Hate Speech - A Nazi related group wants to march in a small town. Should the town deny the Nazis a parade permit? OR Does denying the hate group a permit also deny their right to assemble? Should hateful speech be protected by the First Amendment? |
