Red Cross Community

Health Volunteers Training

Day 1, a big success

The Community Health Volunteers Training Seminar, which was held last August 20 in Bgy. Masambong was a big success. The turnout exceeded our expected number of participants by another 50%! We had 60 women participants, out of the original target of 40, coming from the different depressed communities of the barangay.

Four volunteer workers from the Quezon City Red Cross, which is our club's first community development partner, came and took turns in conducting the seminar. They were assisted by two more QCRC volunteers. The training, which was originally designed for three day was shortened to two-days.

Four club officers came: CP Don Flordeliza, CS Salvie Einosas, and Rtns. Ritz Rosas and Ester Gallardo. Rtn. Ritz invited two prospective members, Pastora Jen Garcia and Alvin Lopez, and one guest who participated in the training.

Rtn. Ritz prepared the food served that day, but CS Salvie ordered more food for another 20 people because of the unexpected turn-out.

Last seminar day and graduation rescheduled

Bgy. Chairman Ka Enyang Flores thanked both the Red Cross and our club for providing the day's training.

The final day, which will be followed by simple graduation rites, will be rescheduled to Sunday, August 28, instead of Saturday, August 27, because the QCRC staff will be having an out-of-town training on that day.

Ka Enyang invited CP Don to attend the Barangay Disaster Coordinating Council organizational meeting tomorrow, August 21.

Patora Jen invoked God's blessings

In closing the day's activity with prayer, Pastora Jen Garcia, moved by the positive response of the women participants who stayed all the way to finish the one-day seminar, offered to pray over CP Don and asked for God's blessings in his endeavors.

Without Buy-In, The Vision Perishes

All leaders have vision. But all people who possess visions are not leaders. A compelling vision alone will not make someone a leader. Nor will a great vision automatically be fulfilled simply because it is compelling or valuable. Followers need to buy-in to the leader.
