Invoking God's
guidance...
Dear Charter Officers and members,
The success of our initial salvo in Bgy.
Masambong is an indication of the correctness and strength of our position. We are upholding the district's "one club, one
barangay" policy, and our club is strongly advocating for "focused community development initiatives" in the
choice of our service projects.
We
should be grateful to Bgy. Chairman "Ka Enyang" Flores for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to serve within the
confines of the barangay. Ka Enyang looks after the welfare of her constituents with firm determination. She is a good partner in our
pursuit for meaningful ways to serve others.
We
chose to start with the training of the women folk as Red Cross Community Health Volunteers to help prepare them in facing the
coming floods that regularly visit their community during the rainy season. Epidemic normally follows a calamity due to the
deterioration of sanitation and hygienic conditions in disaster areas or evacuation centers. Basic knowledge in health care, hygiene and
sanitation especially among mothers can play an important role under such circumstances. The participation of sixty women volunteers
in the first day of our seminar last Saturday, August 20, showed that they themselves found relevance in the said training.
The
support of six QC Red Cross volunteer workers, four of whom took turns in conducting the training, was also an indication that they
fully support the correctness of the direction that we are taking in providing service to the community.
We
give recognition to the club officers who came that day: Club Secretary Salvie who patiently tried to communicate with all
club members to support the project, Rotarian Ritz who offered to prepare the food for the day and Rotarian Ester who always
supports our club's efforts.
We
also welcome to our ranks two prospective members invited by Rotarian Ritz: , and a guest from the neighboring barangay who
participated in the training: . We hope that they will share our brand of community service, and find joy and happiness in pursuing "Service
Above SELF."
I
am forever grateful for Pastora Jen Garcia's gesture of praying for God's guidance over my charge. Indeed, we will only
succeed if He allows us to. Thank you very much!
Lastly,
we congratulate PE Dioni for completing the PETS. The continuity in the implementation of our club's projects next year rests
on his shoulders.
