The Four-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?

  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rtn. Ritz to provide the meals for Red Cross  training participants in the barangay

Rotarian Ritz Rosas offers to provide food for the participants in the planned training seminars for barangay residents. This includes two (2) meriendas and one lunch for two Saturdays of the 3-day training period. Her support to the club's community outreach project is very timely and much-needed, as the barangay residents from affected areas prepare themselves for the expected floods that accompany heavy rains.

Rtn. Ritz

Health is the number one concern of the club in the barangay, as reflected in its Quick H.E.L.P. Check survey. The training is part of the club's Quick Response programs to address the community's most immediate concerns. Hygiene normally deteriorates when long periods of flooding occurs, breeding diseases especially in evacuation areas.

Barangay women folk to be trained as community health workers

In an earlier meeting between club officers, barangays leaders and the QC Red Cross, it was agreed that the club will sponsor some 40 women coming from the four depressed areas of the barangay to undergo training as  extension health workers.

The training, which will cover three days, will be conducted by the QC City Red Cross. QCRC will also provide the participants with the needed training materials. The three-day seminar will further equip the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to serve their community as extension health workers. Graduates will receive corresponding Certificates from the QCRC. The training is scheduled on August 20 & 21 (Sat & Sun) and August 27 (Sat). Earlier schedules failed to materialize.

Disaster Preparedness to follow

The training of the womenfolk as volunteer health workers will be followed by the training of the men folk, this time in Disaster Preparedness. All these are intended to equip the affected residents themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to face the emergency situations that regularly beset their lives.

The coming heavy rains and the expected typhoons bring peril to affected residents in the flood-prone areas of the barangay. The training will allow them to play an active role in confronting their own problems.

A Weak Link

When a team member compromises a core value, the ripple effect of his or her action can bust many others. Godly leaders must stop the trickle before it becomes a flood.
