May 2005 Annual report of Project "5 loaves and 2 fish" including financial report
Project "5 loaves and 2 fish" is we pray connecting the church with plenty to the church in need. The vision is similar to that in 2 Cor. 8:13-15 where Paul is writing to the church in Corinth regarding relief and support for the church in Jerusalem. In this particular passage Paul writes "--I am not trying to put a burden on you, but since you have plenty at this time, it is only fair you should help those in need. Then when you are in need and they have plenty they will help you. In this way both are treated equally as the scripture says, "the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little." Ex. 16:17-18.

Paul reports of the $500 US that were received last year and the $500 US received this year.
As the closest store was 16 km away it was felt that the best use of the funds would be to buld inventory in the store. The funds rose to a value of $2.027.US and many benefited for almost one year. Unfortunately, while Paul and his wife Beth were in the US and it was a time of little cash in the mountains the lady began giving credit.----Worse to persons outside the tribe. Paul reports that when he returned the situation came to light and he stopped replenishing supplies. Paul reports that he does not believe the funds were stollen--rather "given" away.
As of Feb 20 Paul is waiting for the tribe to appoint someone to do the store again. The people miss it as supplies are so far away. Thus far commercial people are not entering for them to buy from. They need someone who can read and keep records to run the store. In the mean time there is a shortage of corn he has sent 800 lbs which will be donated to needy families. The store has been a a big sucess in that it is continually provided the nutrition needed.
The $500 US that was received was used both to help with the food fund as well as help to buy 100 bags of cemet with $200 from another church. Thus they have been able to continue to make blocks and build small houses with the help of the donated cement. There have been other volunteers that have gone in and cut lumber for doors and windows and Paul has taken in an Agriculture man who has taught them how to eliminate army ants that are very destructive to their crops.
