May 2003 Annual report of Project 5 loaves and 2 fish including financial report

Project "5 loaves and 2 fish" is we pray connecting the church with plenty to the church in need. The vision is similar to that in 2 Cor. 8:13-15 where Paul is writing to the church in Corinth regarding relief and support for the church in Jerusalem. In this particular passage Paul writes "--I am not trying to put a burden on you, but since you have plenty at this time, it is only fair you should help those in need. Then when you are in need and they have plenty they will help you. In this way both are treated equally as the scripture says, "the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little." Ex. 16:17-18.

Report of Paul Cross (Central American Missionary) for Honduran churches

Montana de la Flor Honduras 2002
Montana de la Flor -- Old houses thought to have contributed to the epidemic being replaced. (Click for more photos.)
Montana De La Flor

We began working with this church after Hurricane Mitch in 1999. This village and church went through some very hard times -- suffering with famine and TB and Mal de Chagas disease. The famine was due to several years of drought and the diseases were thought to have come from their old thatched roof huts and dirt floors.

We have partnered to help with food aid and cement for the floors of the houses. There are six widows receiving help for food whenever Paul goes into the village as well as the whole community when there is no harvest. Most of the help is in corn aid.

El Ocotal

Food aid is taken in to this church as Paul views the need. These projects received $450 for food aid, $500 for cement for floors if houses. Total: $950 US.

Answers to prayer: I was very blessed this winter to have had the privilege once again to visit the projects and this time with my nephew Daniel Gamble. The churches visited were grateful to the Lord and the Project for the help and their service and accountability is indeed an answer to prayer. We are grateful both to the Lord and our needy brothers and sisters for the privilege of serving the Lord in this manner.

1 John 3:17 - "If anyone has this world's goods and sees his fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him?"

We can see the good Lord putting the team together to fullfill this service - indeed an answer to prayer.

Pray: For wisdom, guidance, and discernment and more faith as we serve our needy brothers and sisters for our Saviour's glory.

For more information please contact me. Thank-you. Your servant in Jesus Christ,

John Gamble
