| February 26th, 2009 The Bay de Noc Brewers have challenged TCF to an ESB Challenge as part of the first leg of the Border Worts ICC. The contest will be held June 11th in Escanaba, MI. January 17th, 2009 Results for the 1st annual "Dead of Winter" Stout competition has been posted. Special thanks to Scott and Tim McGuire for hosting the event. Pictures have also been posted from the event. I would also like to welcome three new club members: Ben Harris, Josh Marenger, and Tim McGuire. Welcome to the club! December 27th, 2008 The links on the DOW Stout page for entry forms and scoring criteria have been fixed. December 14th, 2008 We another sucessful meeting yesterday, with our first beer enthusiast, Ken Kelly, joining the club. Other highlights included a RIS tasting with North Coast's Old Rasputin IS winning easily over the field of six. We are going to brew for the Kewaunee Lions Club "Roar on the Shore" event in March. Tim and myself are planning to brew a batch each, with the goal of getting four club member's brews on tap. Also, 2009 dues will be happily accepted by either of the club officers. Dues remain at $10 and you will receive a laminated card this year! November 13th, 2008 The Dead of Winter Stout page has been updated with entry forms and scoring criteria. November 2nd, 2008 FALL N' DOWN FERMENTATION RESULTS ARE IN!!! October 19th, 2008 Oktoberfest 2008 was a blast! Tim and Toni should be posting pics and highlights on theii website. We need a host for the November club brew meeting. Please volunteer to host if you are interested. October 11th, 2008 Check out the Czar's blog with info about my trip to Denver for GABF 2008. Also, I have added a style spotlight for this month's featured beer-IPA. Tim will have a number of IPAs on tap next weekend. Please RSVP ASAP for this must-attend event. Also feel free to bring your own samples, especially if you have an IPA. TIm will have all American-style IPAs, so you won't need to review the English IPA (14A). We will not have a formal meeting at this event. Hope to see you there. October 2nd, 2008 We had a very productive meeting at Jon Coyne's last Saturday. We sampled and learned more about Kolsch. Goose Island's Summertime Kolsch beat out Jon's "So light your Mother could drink it." After much discussion, we picked Maibock/Helles Bock to be the lead style for the '09 BMC. We'll also challenge the Bay de Noc Brewers to club competition for this style pitting our three best Maibocks against their's. More to come on that later. To give this beer enough time to age/lager, we will be holding a multiple brewer session at my place in Beecher in February. I have an insulated garage that could easily hold five brewers, maybe more depending on the weather. We discussed '08 Oktoberfest. Please email Tim to RSVP for this must attend event! We played the new official sport of TCF: Hammerschlagen. If you would like to host a future meeting, email Jon and he'll tell you how easy it was. We need brewers/hosts for a number of upcoming meetings. September 19th, 2008 The TCF website has a new logo and motto, thanks to the Czarina! So I re-designed the front page of the website. Let me know what you think. We will also be looking at selling TCF T-Shirts to anyone interested in the near future. Maybe even imperial pint glasses. More to come on that. September 13th, 2008 I am happy to announce that Tri-County Fermenters, the Green Bay Rackers, the Appleton ALEs, and the Society of Oshkosh Brewers will team up to host the 1st Annual Fall N' Down Fermentation Festival October 25th and November 1st, 2008. This will be a Wine, Mead, and Cider competition that will be held in Appleton. Click on the link above for more information. |
